So it seems there is a new rule for new passports and visa stamps. Anyone with a new passport either with a 13a or 9a has to go to cebu or manila to get the last entry restamped into the new passport. Happened to be in manila so got my annual report done (15 mins,no nonsence with coppies etc) and new passport restamped less than an hour. I was here with a guy on a 9a tourist visa and he was told the same in dumaguete.
I was at immigration in Dumaguete beginning of January with a new passport, get 6 months tourist visa in the new passport, no stickers out of stock, so they told me to bring both passports and receipts ( paid 6 months tourist visa) next time in Juli. I assume in Juli they will tell me, that I need to transfer the arrival stamp from the old to the new passport. I arrived in Manila does that mean I need to go to immigration in Manila to get the last arrival stamp in my new passport?
They said manila or cebu. I was surprised this included 9a tourist visas. I could understant 13a stamps,i looked at the guy i traveled with passport and they had also stickered the new passport. Mine was just last entry and hand written about the 13a,not a new actual visa stamp.
The info i posted came from dumaguete bi. Tha was the usual case before to carry both. But as we know different places have different rules.
And different people in different places at different times and with different moods have different rules.
I just did my annual report yesterday at Dumaguete BOI, new passport issued Feb 6th, no mention of visa stamp or last entry stamps needed to be put into new passport..
I ran into this when I tried to do my annual in Dumaguete. BI told me I had to go to Manila's Main office. I already had 4 appointments with the VA there on Feb 28th. Last Wed. I got the new Pass Port amended and Thu. morning the annual done, because Wed I got there late in the afternoon. Both times it was quick and easy. Fri. the 4 appointments were all done in the a.m. I was back here Sat. morning. Sometimes thing here in the PI DO go as planed.
I overheard the answer to a question asked by an expat....The 13a stamp granting residency DOES NOT have to be restamped into your new passport. The girl in Dumaguete BI office said just be sure to always hang on to your expired passport with the original stamp. That was on Feb 20th, 2020
