Get a text from my bank, Veterans Bank Branches will close down from tomorrow until further notice, wonder if other banks do the same, hope they leave a little for me in the ATM lol. My neighbors just came home from Dumaguete, they say most will close down incl. malls, I have not seen this confirmed from official side. Guess we need to pay attention to what is going on just now

Does this include online access, if they have it?

The last thing needed is some bank closures as that can cause a run on the banks - not a good thing for people or for a country.

I just talk with them in Veteran Bank, it's only over the counter transactions they close, online banking and ATM will still be avaiable, of course, if Globe and PLDT can provide wifi, here in Bacong Globe wifi has been slow the last 2 days. I wonder if other banks will follow and close down but I see no problem as long online banking and ATM still works

Did they give a reason? Worry about staff?

As long as they keep the ATMs stocked, that will be fine for almost everyone - but what if someone has a very large purchase (e.g. property)? Perhaps that can be done online - but not everyone is able to use online facilities.

Then you wait? What is the issue? If you are dealing with someone in a rush you are likely being taken for a ride.

Veterans Bank just changed their operating hours. They will post tomorrow their opening and closing time. Their decision was based on guidance from Central Bank that regulates all banks in the Philippines.

Things change very fast in the Philippines, I talk with them between 9-10 am this morning, but again, as long online banking and ATM works I can't see any big problems
