So I am quarantined to my house and we have everything delivered so as to not add to the traffic as much as possible and then I hear that CALL CENTERS are still open... did I hear correctly ?
Yes the BPOs are operating. Yay! You are old and not employed here. If you get sick you will put a higher burden on the health care system because of your old age. The purpose of the quarantine is to minimize transmission between people who are not producing. This will keep the rate of infection low so that those who are working can continue to work. This keeps the economy going to some extent.
Not to mention the high transmission rate of people sitting shoulder to shoulder Yay indeed .... so when those "high producers" of the economy get sick.....
Oh and if you are fat, drink too much and smoke cigarettes then youth will not protect you.... some of us "old" people are in better shape than most young Filipinos who work in call centers sitting all day except when taking smoke breaks... As for me I will not "burden" this medical system "such as it is" as there are no ventilators which is the only reason to be hospitalized.
My gf works at a "call center" (she does text chats) and they are still open but they currently have her working from (my) home. They originally gave the employees a choice of joining an office quarantine or working from home. I think they weren't able to continue their office quarantine due to not being able to meet basic human needs. (They had beanbags instead of beds for employees to sleep on and the food was just a bunch of garbage junk and fast food...and they also had one serial sexual harasser and potential rapist that was extremely happy about joining the quarantine and tried to convince all the women to join the quarantine.) So while some may still be open with employees coming in to work others are being a bit more responsible. We also don't know what precautions these businesses are taking with their employees.
