CNN Philippines news broadcast stated our region and most others (not Cebu City, Laguna, and I think NCR) will go on GCQ May 16.

Probably not for the elderly with preexisting conditions. I highly doubt people at low risk are going to be willing to set the world economy back 100+ years. You can still have your happy ending though. I'm sure there are plenty of under 30 women with no pre-existing conditions that are willing to take the risk with the elderly for a modest fee.

    Aren't we already on GCQ?

Yay! Luckily @PatO is here in the Philippines. Yes there will be a happy ending soon! The leadership just needs to get Cebu under control. Then the Visayas can get back to the party. Manila sometime after that.

The low risk working people and the leadership are not going to let this continue on indefinitely. There are many examples of communities that have traced the virus down and eliminated it through isolation. (New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, etc) the Philippines will follow this example. There will be a learning curve in how to take the issue seriously.

The USA and UK on the other hand seem destined to stretch it out for as long as possible. Rather than hunt it down like the terrorist that it is, they are continuing to mull about getting each other infected while saying something about liberty. In the long run this will cost Trillions and Trillions to future US and UK generations.

Cheer up it will be more fun in the Philippines soon!

I will let the forum officials or degamo post anything official.
If I have a hair out of place I might be sent to the chain gang.

I read the same on the thread "Negros Oriental General Community Quarantine - OFFICIAL RELEASES" but dared not post a comment there due to Mr Rye's strict rules about the use of that thread (with which I agree) and me not wanting a corn cob shoved up my lower region!

    But this does exclude "
Minors, below 21 years of age even if accompanied by an adult .... Senior citizens, pregnant women and immunocompromised customers... "

Says nothing about those with other illnesses.

BUT, in the meantime, if news reports are correct, three regions of the badly-affected Manila area have relaxed rules on selling liquor (for consumption at home) and a person age 75 has flown from Manila to Davao to be with his family.

I understand the stay at home order for seniors. Personally, I believe the risk is very low to contact the c-virus. I also know the risk is very high that with my issues I would die if I did get it. So I don’t mind another 2-4 weeks to test the outcomes. I have a family to shop for me and because of them I don’t want to die. I support those that want to go out now and hopefully no danger.

I disagree PatO. The risk of anyone getting the virus in NegOr, let alone a senior, is zero to negligible. At those odds, there should be no age restrictions, but regular warnings for those with other illnesses that could increase the likelihood of serious complications should the virus be contracted.

The whole thing smacks of 'nanny state' and to be honest, in one way surprises me here because this country does not normally display those characteristics. It can only therefore actually be the result of flawed thinking - must be seen to be doing something, so let's target the ones least likely or able to complain/resist.

The more I think about it, the more illogical it seems and the more frustrated I get.
