    Yes, we're both right. I meant my 'Poppy' handle is nothing to do with Remembrance Day, when people in the UK wear poppies.

    Remembrance day may be more similar to the US Veterans Day which is also November 11. They are oriented more towards those that served and those that continue to serve. Both started after WWI.

    US Memorial Day is for honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally called Decoration Day it started shortly after the US civil war.
