BREAKING: The provincial government announced in a press briefing Wednesday that Negros Oriental has six new additional cases of the coronavirus disease 2019. The total number of infections this week is now at 17. All of the new cases are NOT local transmissions, according to Provincial Health Office assistant officer Dr. Liland Estacion. Of the six new cases, two are from Ayungon who are "pescadores" aboard the Philip D.R. vessel, 2 are from Mabinay (1 overseas Filipino worker and 1 locally stranded individual), one is from Sibulan (a locally stranded individual from Barili, Cebu), and one is from Vallehermoso (an LSI from Bacolod). They are now being observed at the quarantine facilities of their respective local government units (LGUs). This is a developing story. We will update this post as soon as we get new information. #NewsBite | via Raffy Cabristante, 106.3 Yes The Best News Editor S0 how did the person from Bacolod and the person from Cebu arrive here already positive because if they were infected here then it would be a "local transmission" .... Am I reading this correctly ??
These will be the OFWs and LSIs that have been arriving by ferry, mostly workers from Manila, but will be other start points. Clearly have had no checks at their point of origin, which is very weird, if not grossly negligent. If they have arrived infected on a boat, what about the others in contact with them on the boat? Have to assume that they have all been tested, but who knows in this sh*t pile.
I have not been home this afternoon but locals tell me some rumors and I emphasize that it's a rumor but expect there will come something from official site later. Police pick up at least 2 women on the beach in Bacong they arrive in a boat from another island, some say Oslob other Siquijor, they brought luggage and police told people to stay away, keep distance, of course, so no one gets the virus if they were infected. Locals told me the woman live in San Miguel and wanted to go home. To me, it is obvious this happened before and will happen again
It's incredible, bordering on recklessness that this girl was allowed into the province with no test and no quarantine, then allowed to go home to Sibulan and mix with people for a week. How can they be sure that she just stayed home inside for a week? How can they know that her immediate family have not passed on to others outside their home? Beggars belief.
I am wondering if this is the same one I heard about from a relative of my wife. Sibulan municipal area but lives a bit further out than Sibulan actual.
