Could anyone please explain the requirements for vehicle insurance, i.e.:

Is it compulsory to buy the minimum third party cover from LTO office, or can this be purchased from an insurance company/broker?

Is there a minimum limit for third party cover?

If purchasing enhanced full cover, is the third party only cover still required?

Can anyone recommend a company or broker for comprehensive cover?

    Thanks

3rd Part insurance is a mandatory part of Registration
I believe it is 100k peso
It is in the Registration so it remains so
Standard Insurance company ( I think at Portal West)

    Thanks Jack.
When you say the TP insurance is '...in the registration'. What exactly do you mean by that? When wife and I purchased a car, the dealer arranged registration in new names and arranged TP insurance cover for us too (maximum claim value P100,000). I do not know where this insurance policy came from, LTO or a broker, but has an insurance company name on it. Are you saying that it would have been arranged at LTO at time of registration? Thanks.

Many of us get the guy at the Smoke Test to arrange the annual registration and insurance for us.

My favorite guy is Ernie at the Smoke Test just north of the Capitol Region. He gets the OR and Insurance (from some company). As I understand the insurance company gives the guys a small finders fee. Normally I give Ernie a few hundred pesos for his trouble. It usually takes him a couple of days to get it all done. He then texts me when he has all the paperwork.

If you are changing the name on the Certificate of Registration just give him all the paperwork and he will tell you if you need to got the PNP for a clearance or whatever else is needed. The smoke test guys make life easier.

Hi-Point Emission Test Center North National Highway is the place I use and assume it's the place Show Pony talk about, easy and good service, free coffee. Like Show Pony says they take care of all paperwork and text you when done, sometimes next day
