Useful to have told us in your first posting that you knew all about the business world, including within the Philippines - would have saved so many of us trying to help.

Btw, I have run businesses, been very successful, knew what I was doing by instinct, used my head and not my D**** (well, I tried once but that one went flat  ) ... BUT I never once requested a partner. I guessed that if it was going to be a great success I would keep all the profits. If it was risky then perhaps I would have wanted people to share the risk.

If you need a third partner Mr Englishdave and Mr Crystalhead I may join in! You would find my math skills of great use. Mr Ed can have 49%, Mr C the 51% he requested and I will take the other 90%.

Most here are well into their 50's to 60's and above, retired with a pension or SS check without any need for the extra income a business would bring in.
Running a business is a full time job. You won't have much time to sit back and relax. I highly doubt the money will be worth the work unless you just want something to do...or want to give something the family can run into the ground in short order. Unless your family has an extensive background with running businesses successfully, then I'd say write up an agreement with them and go for it. Just be fully prepared to lose every centavos you put into the business.

I'm not sure your level of experience with and time in the Philippines but if you think you have what it takes then best of luck to you. Personally, I'll stick to the stock market and collect my capital gains and dividends, it is a much more reliable source of income and far less work than operating a business...which gives me much more time to enjoy that slower pace of life you speak of.

Best of luck with your future endeavors, whatever they may be.

Best of luck mate but you are in for a huge surprise and you are are very likely to lose a lot of money. Sorry mate but that is the way it is. Your entire approach to this has been in my view, very suspicious.

Out of curiosity, have you ever been to Dumaguete, or the Philippines?

Keep a low profile? Fly under the radar more likely. Just what sort of business are you thinking of ïf it relies on "Who you know"?
