This is for information only, to those who use Facebook, Instagram, Tik Toc (not many here I'm sure) and other social media sites that publish personal photos, fr example of get-together's at home or in restaurants, or at the beach (better not!). The PNP is monitoring these media for your face mask and other quarantine violations.

My intention is not to discuss the politics (not wise on this social media site) but rather to provide awareness.

Monitoring of social media by police, security agencies (including 5 eyes) and others has been going on for years - it is the result of people putting all their information out there! Everyone now has a look.

So, if you post a photo/video taken 7+ months ago (before covid) maybe best to add a disclaimer stating so?

I have been wondering about all this money being invested in facial recognition all over the world, now that most are wearing MASKS. The police will be in a position of arresting everyone or anyone wearing a mask! "He/she looked like my purf he was wearing a mask", giving every COP reasonable cause to stop you and steal your money. It has been my experience that most cops, in the US, are nothing more that "Highway robbers". My last encounter with the Alaska highway men. Three NEW cop cars and five cops, two with their guns drawn, to tell I had a cracked wind shield! In Alaska probably 60 to 70 percent of cars on the road have cracked wind shield do to gravel spread in the roadways in the winter. If you think I am blowing smoke up your :mooning:, just google "Bad Cops". :punch: :rage: I love the freedom I have here in the PI. Here I can spend my retirement money on good things with out worry the cops is going to steal it from me every time I step out of the house.

    Rant over.

Most likely there is a date record of you posti either on the account posting or embedded in the photo itself. I am not too concerned about abuse of the system that leads to false charges, I am more concerned about the “true” charges and how they add brought against you. I don’t think authorities themselves will pour over every FB account in the province looking for prohibited menacing behavior such as swimming at the beach, that is the job of people who may wish to even a score with you, ex-lovers, ex-employees etc.. when all they have to do is use your FB posting as evidence and fill out a blotter on you. Or perhaps ANC did not report this accurately.

I also wondered about the nearly instant acceptance of authorities around the world to the idea of everyone wearing masks. I will say as far as facial recognition is concerned, you face is still visible to the cameras without much modifications to current equipment which already can sense the heat signature of your face through the mask allowing several points to be identified through infrared. I can see China getting into that; they probably would not go so as to bounce xrays off of people (bowstring). The eyes are generally visible so distance between them is still readily available. Facial recognition might still be operating today with a reduced level of confidence but still ok.

As for USA cops I take your stories a bit odd, I guess because I myself never really had a big problem. Of course, I never had the opportunity to live in AK either. I did have at least one speed trap, once I was stopped for not wearing a seat belt and a few (non-trap) speeding tickets that I deserved. I had a moving violation that was undeserved and a couple of tickets from red light cameras. But for me these were truly forgettable experiences not nearly so much as to make me sigh in relief that I am so much safer from the highway robbers here than the highway robbers there

The Mayor of NYC, DeBlazio, initially tried this at the onset of the problem. It was referred to as the 'snitching' law. It did not work then, but can the local police respond to all of them here? I doubt it. DeBlazio is referred to as the worst Mayor in the US, but Wheeler from Portland is giving him a run for his money.

I agree 100% with your opinion on these mayors! Gross gross incompetence.

PNP cannot of course get everybody but if you narrow it down to foreigners who have money to pay fines and are “perceived” abusive of the law and need to be set an example of, your chances of adverse enforcement may become that much greater. But as usual, people should never did anything wrong will be 100% ok. My post was not for them.

Pointed out to one poster who very recently told others here not to be political (and agreeing with me that is defined by naming specific persons)!
