I am surprised with your intellect you cannot go back a few pages to find it - others can.

But FYI it is on the bottom comment on page 3 of this thread.

When you were first on this Forum and made a similar "mistake" with another member, I sent you a PM in confidence to point it out and told you exactly where to find it - you never removed it.

And you have a HUGE cheek to blame me!!! You wrote "It is because of this statement you made which upset Dutchie. You foiled his anger." HE is able to read - HE saw it himself. Never once did Dutchie rate or remark on one of my comments about this - he just accepted what you did. FYI (again) it is YOUR mistake - you just admitted it! It is because you arrogantly blamed me for your mistake that I gave you a trollin' on your comment - this is something I very rarely do (I did one or two in naivety when I first joined the Forum but now regret them, but I cannot locate them to remove them).

I am not just asking to remove a rating in your case re Dutchie (and I did ask you THREE times!) - I have often written in confidence to people who give unfair ratings and asked them (very politely) to remove them. In all cases they did.

I do this because I do not like unfairness and I will defend myself - but more often, others - when I see it occurring.

But perhaps time to put this to rest - you remove the trollin' and all is well.

Miscommunication often happens due to language barriers. Even if Glenda is an English teacher, English still isn’t her first language. There are nuances to every language and often, the wrong use of words pave the way for these “misunderstandings.” While she does make sweeping statements at times, I do not think she does it out of malice. On the contrary, I find her exceedingly helpful. Too helpful that she sometimes phrases conjectures or certain theories as facts. It’s up to each person to think for themselves and go for it if you believe in it, or do away with it if you don’t. I find rubbish in here all the time, but there is no need to get all fired up about it. Just bin them accordingly and carry on. Life is too short and COVID just made it shorter.

One thing I admire about her is that her English puts many natural English-speakers to shame. If I could use Filipino 0.0001% as well as Glenda uses English then I would be delighted.

Is this a hidden apology ? Could be, after all you give her a hard time sometimes. Actually, I'm in the same situation like her. English is not my mother tongue So when it comes to the finer linguistic nuances we would always lose debating with you and the others.

Interesting comment. Yes, if the forum were conducted in German or Bisayan I would be at a disadvantage but not completely defeated because Google translate is improving so much over time. We native English speakers are extremely fortunate in many ways that the English language has defaulted to become the international language, over some objections from the French and others. When I was younger there was a movement to make Esperanto the worldwide language and I remember studying it; I was fascinated by the concept of one international language. The Esperanto advocacy group was headquartered in London and it was based on a language used by seamen and stevedores at the ports. I studied it and it was easy to learn. Even today, I believe Esperanto is used for those purposes.

I think the problem with Esperanto was that its vocabulary and grammar were too simple, not allowing for creative nuance and expression (which English is superior at).

At least with English you can make mistakes and most people know what you are really trying to say, with the exception of certain people who will jump on the most unfavorable interpretation and make the writer feel ashamed. I don’t know why people do that but it is a way to “win” in a spirited discussion, I suppose.

No apology required from me - I was the one falsely accused of something another member did.

I don't give anyone a "hard time" - it is just that I am frank and honest. Anything wrong with that?

Perhaps ask the person who admitted she "made a mistake" in giving Dutchie a trollin' and asked how to remove it, was told by two people where it was located and how to remove it - it is still there, even though that person has been on the Forum since! LOL.
