I guess we should prepare for the worst this coming winter. In the case if the Philippines with its penchant for banning alcohol to stop the spread of Covid19(?), it means stocking up on cerveza and perhaps finding a local source of brewers yeast for DIY lol. I am wondering if Yan Yan carries that.

Oh boy. 6 months of restrictions, months of lockdowns, and there's still many here that see more of the same as the answer. Worse, there's some that think the restrictions aren't draconian enough. We even have a scientist, deeply versed in this subject, advocating for more restrictions. Doesn't anyone remember when the world was saying, "Just stick together and follow the rules, this will be over in two weeks if you comply." or some variation?

If nothing else, the world's reaction to this virus shows exactly what doesn't work. As soon as Negros Oriental opens to tourism, the numbers will skyrocket. Maybe that's the answer though...everyone just hide in their holes because 1% of the population may die from this disease. Maybe we'll get a vaccine soon and then listen to the stories of hundreds of thousands with odd symptoms they didn't have prior to their life saving injection.

The wiki below, which probably has sources for you guys that think they need them, says that 150,000 people die every single day with about 100,000 due to "age related causes." Daily COVID deaths have ranged between "272 and 10,520 per day" according to the second source cited below. Do I care about the sources or the information they've provided? No. To a logical person, the data seems obvious.

I hope with the next virus, and the hundreds of others that follow, the world can behave more responsibly and err on the side of liberty. Tell everyone truthfully their odds of dying and let them react accordingly. Even masks should be optional, as long as service to those not wearing masks is also optional. Those that feel they need to go to work and risk infection will do so, thereby creating a barrier against infection that will eventually benefit those that hide out of fear of death. In all likelihood, a large percentage of those "saved" from this terrible disease will die weeks later due to old age, gunshot wounds, or heart disease, but at least it won't be the latest COVID version.

Totally disagree. Do nothing as is suggested will produce a situation where the hospitals are overloaded and incapable of treating the sick. Or do you advocate just leaving them to die at home?

And on another point, I am old, I have health issues but I do not expect to die in a matter of weeks. I expect to be around for a lot longer than that to enjoy the kids I now have which I would not have had, had I not met my wife.

The reason for masks and social distancing is to try to control the onset of the virus so that the structure of the country is not immediately overwhelmed with the accompanying results to buy the time to set in place a vaccine regimen to prevent the bloody thing from ballooning into the 100 million deaths or more which occurred with the Spanish version all those years ago. With the world population now what it is I think you can increase that number by a considerable factor.

I for one certainly hope that you do not catch it, end up in hospital on a respirator, and perhaps end up in a box as a result.
