Does anyone know of an insurance company in the area that does home/condo insurance, we tried Prudential at the Boulevard next to the 7/11 over 1 week ago and gave them our details , no quote yet, looks like they don't want our money
I do our Home insurance and the Car through the bank PNB via Standard Insurance which I believe is on Portal West on Silliman
Have you had to "use" the insurance for anything? Here in Kuwait, everyone has to have car insurance, but if you actually need it, using it is a bitter and tough battle.
We do ours through the Bank because they have a Big pull and from others I have heard that very few claims are turned Down
PNB seems to be the go to place for home insurance, we got ours there also (not through Standard Insurance, direct at the bank (at the corner next to Noreco main office, talk to the lady at the first desk on the right when you enter). Standard insurance is indeed In Portal West (left hand side at the corner when you come from the direction of PNB and turn right to go toward Lee Plaza). We got car and bike insured through them.
Actually using the car insurance here is one thing that is not so complicated. The times we had to use it, it was quite simple. Get a copy of the police report, let the insurance company see the damage and give them a copy of the report, go to the repair facility or dealership, tell them to deal with your insurance company. Go pay your deductible when the work is done and drive away.
There's quite likely a difference between claiming damage to your own vehicle, as opposed to dealing with third party liability. I recently had minor damage as a result of someone driving into the back of my car, but they didn't bother to involve their insurance company. If that's any indication of how hard it might be to claim damages from insurance, then it might be much like Kuwait here, I don't know.
Often a driver will not want a claim against their name as it increases following years' (i.e. maybe for more than one year) premiums - it is usually cheaper to pay for the damage, especially when the excess is taken into account. In the UK an insured person is obliged to inform the insurers of any accident, even if no claim is made. As if!!!
Not so here, and that amazed me. Here you insurance rates go down every year because the value of your car goes down. You could get into a dozen accidents and your premiums will still go down, if the insurance company still wants your business. Here, they go after the person at fault and collect, if possible from them, or else they take them to court and get a judgment against them and any property they own. Strange but true.
