Unfortunately for me I had to return to UK for work back in Jan 2020 with the intent of returning to PI at the end of March but well known events have prevented the realisation of that scenario. I have a Filipina wife and have been advised that I can now get a 9A visa and return to our home in Mabinay.

I understand that, on my return to MNL, I will need a PCR test and isolate until I get the results. Once I receive a, hopefully, negative result I can get a medical cert and PNP Covid Shield travel authorisation to get a flight to DGT for onwards transportation to Mabinay.

Is there anything else I need, or should be aware of?

Any advice or experience will be gratefully received

Have your wife go to the Local Health Unit in Mabinay. They may have their own requirements such as a 14 day quarantine. When my stepson returned from Uzbekistan he had to quarantine I Manila until his negative test result came back. He then had to quarantine at a Dumagete hotel for 2 weeks. He also needed an acceptance letter from the LGU in Bacong. The Bacong LGU also had to get his name on the approved flight list for the SWEEPER FLIGHT. Don't buy a regular ticket to get to Dumagete. The airlines sell regular tickets and then cancel the flights (a$$hats).

I think it would be wise to read this article:
    https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/new...inos-need-entry-visa-to-philippines-bi/story/

It states that yes being the spouse of a Filipina you can return to the Philippines, however you need to:
    1. secure your 9a visa from the Philippine embassy before departure,
    2. have a pre-booked accredited quarantine facility (I assume at the "port of entry")
    3. have a pre-booked COVID-19 testing provider (I assume at the port of entry in the Philippines)
    4. bring with you your authenticated marriage certificate and other supporting documents when they travel to the Philippines for BI officials to see if needed.

As for requirements that your end destination in the Philippines may have before you're allowed to travel there, your wife can ask at the local IATF (interagency task force) in Mabinay (requirements differ, e.g. Dumaguete requires you to get a "welcome letter" from the LGU before you can travel here).

Thanks for the advice Show Pony & Dutchie. How did the LGU issue the Acceptance Letter? It seems the Mabinay IATF bunch want the PNP TA and Medical Cert sent to them before they'll issue the letter - which would mean at least another week in MNL, by which time the PCR test would be invalid......Catch 22

Ask them if they need the original. My wife helped a neighbor get from Manila back to dauin. All the documents were scanned and emailed back and forth.

Maybe it could work if you send a scanned file of those two documents through email to your wife, who can then have those copies colour printed in Mabinay and get your acceptance letter on your behalf on the basis of those copies? Worth a try, I would think.
She could then email you a scan of the letter back, which you can get printed and fly home with?

They do say "Great minds think alike".

.......... BUT, "The original saying is as follows “Great minds think alike, though fools seldom differ.” The second half of the expression, “fools seldom differ.” suggests that the people that came to the same conclusion aren’t so smart after all."
