my personal experience with this was to rent a box for four years. became too pricy for the occasional letter. after closing the box my son sent a letter to me with my name and dumaguete and the 6200 zip code. he messaged me. after six weeks i went to the post office to claim. "yep, its here" or something like that. sent me to the third floor (stairs only and hot) there a helper searched thorough stacks and boxes of letters finally deciding, "the carrier has it" (this in spite of no street address or directions to my house) and told me when to come back. after two more visits to the post office including two more trips to the third floor i gave up. nearly a year later my son messaged me to advise the letter had been returned to him in Madison Wisconsin USA marked "undeliverable"
Surprisingly, the postal system seems to be more of a shambles than the other utilities. Would not have thought that possible.
well i agree with one of the other posts here that the lack of street signs and house number makes their home delivery task almost impossible. it certainly affects home delivery of any service. it does appear to be a fact tho that manila to the US or vice versa is about a 5 or 6 day journey for first class. the rest of the time is all internal to the phils and you would think that city to city would be a snap, but its not. i only see things getting worse here in that regard which is one reason i concerned about the new testing centers but i also agree its pointless to fret
No adress could be so easy to solve with gps location, preferebly with a google maps link. Mmm keep dreaming.... Also this will never work. I tried so many times to explain how easy this works, sharing a location in google maps and mostly i get a screenshot of a satellite map in google maps...
Mail has gotten significantly better since I arrived here. The first birthday card from my mom arrived 4 years after it was sent. The next time took 1 year. The next 6 months. The next 4 months. And the last card I received from my mom took only 2 months. Things are improving. Was your phone number, gate/house number/color, street, Purok and barangay provided on that letter as well as the city and postal code? If not I'm not sure what you were expecting to happen. Postal workers are not magicians or psychics, you have to give more than just a name, city and postal code. There are very few places in the world that little of information would result in a successful delivery.
In the main Dustin you are right but in the UK, ME 15 4RJ will put the Postman within 8 Houses of My Daughter in Rochester City Kent England Just the name and that Postcode will do it But then of Course, the Post office here would not accept that as a Destination, Just Adding UK will do it though
