nope you are disregarding my remarks where my research has shown a very high coloured death rate to begin with on Michigan. Not so now.
@Philpots I am shocked that you stubbornly refuse to show the sources of your information. In a previous post you falsely stated the the total cases for Florida was only 146,341. This was wrong it is actually 807,412 Your entire argument fails on these false numbers. Then when a member asked that you provide a source you stubbornly refused. Then you continue to believe your false information supports this convoluted logic regarding your "research". Please do not distribute unsubstantiated information on this forum or at least back it up when a member asks for a source. Unwillingness to quote sources is exactly where quackery comes from. source: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/?utm_source=DI&utm_medium=referral
I think our tools for dealing with it are rather blunt force. Masks, social distancing, lockdowns, etc., are very helpful, but crude and destructive. If we could see it, we'd have better, quicker screening. The Israelis developed a device that detected the virus by vibrating it at a certain frequency. Sci Fi right now though. Early, swift, science based planned response worked for Malaysia: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nat...lesson-for-the-west-says-international-report
Regarding lockdowns, it seems that the WHO statement has been largely ignored but they don’t think they are useful as the primary method of control. No country, as far as I can see, takes them seriously even though most are WHO members. Maybe it takes some time for the true experts advice to sink in: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The concern the WHO is expressing relative to lock-downs is that developed world countries buy less from the third world when the developed world economy is locked down. Then poor people suffer. But politicians in developed countries answer to their people not to foreigners in poor countries. Lock downs work to save the citizens in the developed countries. The term lock down is poorly defined. Sometimes it means closing a few bars and other times it means closing factories.
WHO is pretty clear in applying this to all countries; WHO, of all organizations, is clear as to what a “lockdown” means, we all know what it means, and the WHO Director does make an important moral judgement regarding the poor. He is unconditionally telling us that the lockdown cure is worse than the disease in many or most cases. Not much wiggle room. Something to think about, to consider how it applies globally and certainly not to try to find local exceptions. But I understand, WHO’s position is leading edge (as it should be) and it may take a while for people to change gears if the politicians will allow it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A whole lot of elderly people in Florida. It should come as no surprise that they have more deaths. It is just not nearly as deadly to younger people.
Sure, my response was to the assertation that Florida has managed the virus better than Michigan... the case count is the point here....
Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II compared Michigan’s response to the COVID-19 epidemic to Florida in a MIRS news podcast. “I think it's really clear that Florida treated coronavirus very differently than we did here in Michigan," Gilchrist said, according to MIRS. "I think we were more sensitive and more responsive to the science, to the data, to the public health professionals who gave us guidance to what we needed to do to save lives and to limit the spread." As of June 29: Florida population: 21.48 million Total COVID-19 Cases: 146,341 Cases Per 100K Residents: 681 Total COVID-19 Related Deaths: 3,447 Deaths Per 100K Residents: 16 Michigan population: 9.99 million Total COVID-19 Cases: 70,223 Cases Per 100K Residents: 703 Total COVID-19 Related Deaths: 6,161 Deaths Per 100K Residents: 62 Michigan Capitol Confidential is the news source produced by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.
