Our internet is from PLDT on the 15mbps plan although every time i do a speed check it is only around 10 but is good enough for what we use it for.
At the end of last year they gave us a free speed boost to 25mbps for being good customers that paid our bill before the due date, i speed checked it then and sure enough it was always over 20 and sometimes even hitting over 30.
The speed boost ended last month and we went back to the normal speed, now and again i do a speed check and today for some reason it is over 40mbps (i checked it 4 times)
Any body else with PLDT experiencing this ?

We subscribe for the 50 Mbps plan and for the last few days we have been getting 80- 90 Mbps up and 300 Mbps down-load. May it continue but I doubt it will.

Sky cable is fast too. 49 Mbps on a plan that has recently been upgraded from 30 to 60 Mbps for no additional charge.

Impressive speeds but China Telecom will have a huge influence - so nothing will be private!

Looks like you are testing your speed to the PLDT servers. That should be very fast. Try testing to a server outside the Philippines.

I'm seeing similarly impressive results from Airlink. Speed test just now showing 3.6mbps, which is 2mbps higher than normal.

These are closed network test results with no user loads. Overloaded cells, poor site setup quality, local interference (cable boosters oscillating, US band RFIDs, illegal cellboosters and many real world Philippines issues will drop that to far less then the other two.

Plus the reality is Dito has been left the dregs of bands leftover by the Belltel buyout. They have slivers of bandwidth compared to the duopoly.

Dito will take years to get nationwide coverage so you will have two SIMs to go anywhere.

They should focus on number portability which was meant to be mandated and coming in this year here. This happened in the 1st world 15 years ago to make operators compete. Globe and Smart have the highest profit margins in SEA they price match data plans and have little reason to change. They are the only two operators who are not concerned about operator Churn, the cost to recover lost subs, as they don't lose many.

Two other issues arising from legislation passing though now:

    1. Will be illegal for companies to expire a sim and keep the cash (load) on it.
    2. All sims will have to be registered. Many countries already do this. I don't know if it will be retrospective.
