Sorry I did digress slightly, I was making a comparison between the knock on effects from lockdown and the virus, which some people still dont believe exists, and the same with Climate change. Maybe I should start a Topic "WILL THE WORLD SURVIVE VIRUSES AND CLIMATE CHANGE. or are we all doomed
Whats being said then is the only answer to that is Herd Immunity.......Let the virus run it's course, the elderly and the weak will die and the world will continue as it has always done. I don't think so, but that's just my opinion
1. IMHO, Lockdowns hurt economies, people don't make money if people don't have money to spend, or unless the government gives it to you. 2. Short lockdowns work if people follow rules. Unless the Philippine government is lying and hiding tens of thousands of bodies, the early Negros lockdown worked (sorta) and we've had less than a couple hundred active cases at any one time since March 14 last year. Looks to me like we have 95% mask compliance in all the places i go, even now. I don't know anyone that got sick. 3. Opening up HELPS economies, only saves them if people get quickly re-employed. Dumaguete opened slightly in April last year, opened more in May. We are better off, not great. 4. Opening up WITHOUT knocking out huge clusters of the illness first is fatal to people and economies, like the US. Those people are lunatics, i've been back a couple times in the last half decade, not for two years, may never go back if they never wise up. 5. Noticed the new relax of travel restrictions here. Let it happen, wait 3 or 4 weeks, try something else, like "shields" not required, only 30% compliance now, not sure how a shield works if it's sitting over ur hair. 6. I have ZERO proof of ANYTHING above, but then i have the in-ter-net and i can find PROOF of ANYTHING. ( i was going to say "and you know, the CIA killed Kennedy," but some idiot would hijack the thread with proof. Take it to a new thread)
Considering the Population of Philippines and given the strict entry procedures may well of reduced the number of reported cases. However it may be also true that due to the number of islands and restriction of movement that has been a blessing in disguise.
ABSOLUTELY, did not mention it above, but i have ALWAYS felt the TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS instituted last march 14 throughout the Philippines was THE reason we did not have the big problems of Manila or Cebu. Proved by the actions of the idiot arrogant lawyer and his "private plane" to Manila, who brought back a covid surge of dozens of people. I cringed when i read that, hunkered down for a week until i realized he wasn't going to kill many people. Fairly strict quarantine surely helped. In the US, the brilliant early lockdowns in places like San Francisco were rendered useless by planes and highways carrying sick people being allowed in from ravaged countries and ravaged US cities.
COVID, SCHMOVID. Has anybody noticed or looked up flu statistics for this year and last year? Last year, there were 420,000 flu hospitalizations with 26,000 flu deaths. This year, there is zero flu hospitalizations and zero flu deaths. What happened to flu? Did we eradicate flu like we did chicken pox and small pox? Has anybody seen or compared the microscopic pictures of flu virus and COVID virus. Look these up. Wake up people. A man in South Carolina had a motorcycle crash and died. Autopsy showed he had COVID too. His death was classified as COVID death. COVID is 99.7% survivable. Lockdowns are more harmful than the disease itself.
