Reminds me that at Christmas I bought a tin of 'Turkey' - thought 'Great! Make a nice few slices to have in a sandwich with pickled onions'. I looked forwards to it for weeks with great anticipation. On Christmas day I opened said can - WTF!!! It was like luncheon meat. I think I am on topic.

The unused Azrazeneca was requested back by Manila (don't know whether they complied), and they got so little Sinovac it's probably used up. One friends biz org in Cebu ordered Moderna, but no idea when it happens. No readout if expats will be included yet, just nice sounding words. Hope the pharmacies, etc., buy, but no indication yet.

I heard in the news today that AstraZeneca was having a report of blood clots in some people who had been vaccinated with. This vaccine is now put on hold.

I received my second dose of Moderna yesterday on the base in Guam. Felt nothing with the first dose, woke up this morning with a bit of soreness in my shoulder. Got the COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.

About 5,800 people who have been vaccinated (77M) against coronavirus have become infected anyway, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tells CNN.[IMG]
74 people died. 396 – 7% – of those who got infected after they were vaccinated required hospitalization.
It’s the first indication from CDC of how effective the vaccine is in real life – and the first indication the vaccines do not protect completely against severe disease and death.

A little over 40% of the infections were in people 60 or more years of age," the CDC said. Most, 65%, were female.

Interestingly enough, they've not kept the efficacy a secret and this is stated quite clearly in almost all documentation I've seen regarding the vaccines. Just like a mask, the vaccine will not protect you 100%.

Good you got the card, and with the J&J vaccine. The efficacy for preventing the disease as you said, is much smaller, but according to Dr Fauci just two weeks ago, he stated publicly that in terms of preventing hospitalization or death, it is almost 100% effective.
The recent removal of this by the FDA is IMO an odd political move that i do not have an answer for.
Just six serious adverse cases, out of 6.8 million doses given? What about the rate of adverse effects of the others?
Do they want to jam the mRNA vaccines up our rear ends for some reason?
I'm still working as a RN here in California. I refuse to take a covid vaccine.
There is simply no good reason for me to.

It is becoming obvious that a multi approach is required. No vaccine is 100% - one may even be only 50%. It is possible that three vaccinations may be required, with annual ones following. It is even likely that this dodgy virus will outwit any current vaccine and new ones will have to be manufactured. And no mask is 100%. It needs combinations of vaccine/mask/social distancing/awareness/testing/contact tracing/quarantine.
