    Where are the vaccination centers here in Dumaguete?

    Bacolod has already opened 9 vaccination centers:

    SM City Bacolod
    Ayala Malls Capitol Central

    Aside from the malls, he added the city already opened seven new vaccination centers in various barangays to accommodate the healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3) eligible priority groups who have yet to receive Covid-19 vaccine jabs.

    Do I understand this correctly? Cities that managed the pandemic well are punished by being deprived of resources like testing machines (in Dumaguete a private company donated the machines) and vaccines. Meanwhile the national task force overrules local procedures which causes a more contagious variant to spread.

    Was it managed well or does population density and more people living in a household have more to do with how fast it spreads? Bacolod is a major urban city with a larger population and economy than Dumaguete. They have more people, money and resources than Dumaguete. I'm not surprised at all that Bacolod has more vaccination centers and has received more assistance.

    If there are no, or few, vaccination centers here how is that an example of the Negros Oriental government handling the pandemic better than Occidental?

    On a per capita basis we can expect the ratio to be about the same. Bacolod has nine vaccination centers and is opening one more = ten. Bacalod has four times the population of Dumaguete.

    So we can expect at least two vaccination centers open here based on population.

    What good is a vaccination center with no vaccine? Philippines DOH says that 9.2 million doses were delivered through end of April. They have scheduled another 44 million doses to be received by the end of the year. These are mostly AZ, which require two doses. So that is enough to vaccinate about 25 million. That's the plan? Um, hello ... there's 110 million people here (not counting us expats). So the big plan is to vaccinate less than one-fourth of the country by the end of the year?? No wonder WorldCovidTracker ranks Philippines 156th out of 200 countries on vaccination progress.

    Agree, agree, agree...but it stands to reason to do the densely clustered population centres first. Hence Bacolod will be in front of Duma. Goodness knows when they will hit the rural provinces n baraguays unless those in the ‘first’ world stop playing the ‘me, me, me’ game. Some hope.

    Actually many remote barangays are getting the vaccine. Here is a story about a remote barangay on a small island. The bangka capsized. The vaccines are OK because they were wrapped in plastic.

    Ideally the at risk population (old, co-morbid condition) everywhere gets the vaccine first before the low risk young people.

    The first world developed these vaccines. First world populations should be the first to receive them since they are the ones funding and contributing to first world governments and research. Beggars don't get to be choosers. You get a handout when you get a handout.

    And the majority of manufacture takes place in India. It’s not a handout, it’s economic as well as humanitarian good sense.
