I thought by posting here I get answers from anyone who wishes to reply.

I don't go along with that reasoning - people will congregate for a host of reasons. Are they going to confiscate playing cards, chess boards, spiders for fighting (yuk!), chismis, etc? The idiots will congregate whatever happens. One man met his mates while drinking and so the logic is to ban alcohol? It is their decision but rather pointless.

And they may use 65% alcohol for cleaning but can anyone come up with a figure for the level of alcohol which might inactivate a few virus particles in the mouth or throat? I was not, incidentally, advocating drinking as an anti-viral measure - I just mentioned it as possibly more of a help than a cause of viral spreading.

I was not aware there is a pneumonia vaccine - I started a new thread on what I read about it. It could be very important for seniors.

There were plenty of examples in Manila and across the Philippines, not just one. And of course we know people can gather for other reasons, but alcohol goes along with the others too. And we can doubt just as well as you can. The fact that you trivialize the point illustrated by saying "one man" speaks about you, not the illustration.

I don't trivialise it - but I look at sample size. That's science.

However, now I have learned about the habit of glass sharing when groups drink alcohol I get it.

Yes, you trivialized it, and deliberately, like you're playing some little game, and feigning innocence. An adult would have asked additional honest questions. If you honestly didn't know about the liquor drinking, or the famous incident that occurred in Cebu, or the block parties in Manila, or the complaints about groups of men drinking on the side of the roads a few years ago here, and haven't found empty Emparador bottles on your walks, or haven't enjoyed drunken old Filipinos telling stories down at the sari sari store, or gone to a cockfight with a group and had a great time -noticing the gambling on the side, or played pool while getting drunk with them, you haven't touched how fun Filipinos can be, and their drinking habits. They're funny, but half the jokes go past me. They set up a rectangular tent on my street and were gambling and drinking - having a good time till it got shut down. Now the S Koreans are the worst, and Japan drinks more, but the Philippines makes more home brew, like Tuba, than either of them, so it's only estimated. Hell, they taught the Mexicans how to make tuba, they didn't know. So if you don't know any of that, and didn't catch that a couple of weeks ago, they said no partying in the Philippines, I don't think you should trivialize an example of one spreader event, nor is your opinion about liquor based on a sample size of decent experience.

I don't even know if to bother to reply to this - you seem to take comments on your postings personally.

    But:

If you honestly didn't know about:

    the liquor drinking ... NO

or the famous incident that occurred in Cebu ... NO

or the block parties in Manila ... NO

or the complaints about groups of men drinking on the side of the roads a few years ago here ... NO

and haven't found empty Emparador bottles on your walks ... NO

or haven't enjoyed drunken old Filipinos telling stories down at the sari sari store ... NO

or gone to a cockfight with a group and had a great time ... NO (I respect animals)

or played pool while getting drunk with them ... NO

... you haven't touched how fun Filipinos can be, and their drinking habits. BUT I AM STILL CONTENTED.

I think it's obvious. You responded with an appeal to ridicule - which is meant personally. Adios.
