I am looking for recommendations here please.
We are looking for a new fridge / freezer, the double door type aprox 36 inches wide.
We looked in 5 different shops and depending on which make it is there is a huge range of prices going from 120k + to 41k.
They all do basically the same thing and the more expensive ones have all the bells, whistles, flashy lights and ice dispensers as you would expect.
My natural shopping instinct always draws me to the cheapest price which in this case is a Haier brand 41k, as i had never heard of this brand i asked the salesman where it was made, he said it was a German brand name but not made in Germany.
Once we were home i googled it, Germany was not mentioned and it is Chinese.
The fact that its Chinese does not put me off but i am looking for recommendations from anyone in the forum with experience of buying one of these appliances regardless of what brand it is.
I ask for help as over the years i have had some bad experiences with appliances and this time i want to get it right, examples below,
    1. Samsung AC (inverter type) - constantly breaking down, repair man said because they are inverter type and use less electricity it makes them more delicate and liable to malfunction (of course they don't tell this in the shop)
    2. Sharp wide screen tv - unrepairable breakdown at just less than 2 years old.
    3. Fujidenzo gas cooker - Piece of junk , knobs fell off.

We've had good experience with Samsung - fridge freezer and washing machine. 7 years with no problems - sold them with the house and bought new for the new house. 1 year now and no problem. Also Samsung smart tv - no problems so far.

The other thing to consider apart from price and brand rating is spare part availability. Some brands have easier access to parts than others.

Good experiences here with LG (fridge/freezer, washing machine). Their cheapest offer in the size you want is around 47k, a bit more than the Haier, but I'd gladly pay the 6k extra in return for the 10 year warranty and better local servicing when needed.

The no frosting feature is a must IMO. I have a Samsung inverter fridge (freezer on the bottom). It was close to 40-50k if I remember correctly. Much quieter than that old Filipino brand I had. I can't speak for the durability as I have only had it for 3-4 months but I'm happy with it so far.

Warranty and spare parts are important.
The one thing I look at is the current. The first refrigerator I bought was super efficient and drew less than 1 amp. With it's tiny compressor it took 3 days to cool down a case of beer. It's replacement drew around 3 amps and only needs a few hours to bring the beer to an acceptable temp.
The bigger the compressor the better.
As for inverter compressors? I'm not sure the complications of an inverter out weight the claimed increase in efficiency.

the only seller in town who as anything closely related to after salesservice and have actual repair men in dumaguete are (most repair men on some seller/stores books are from bacolod) and when we had grief mid-last year they couldnt come here...........so in my opinion the only seller to consider buying from is du ek sam and they too have repossessed stuff to thats not all that bad, can get premium appliances for rid range money and can do payments too (not that you need to, but its good idea to build up a credit line with them) can still go off and pay it in three payments with zero interest just to build up a little credit record with them
HAIER is in deed a chinese brand but really popular here in china (dont expect any karaoke/salesman to know anything about anything you might want to buy) do your due dilligence online first...............do you need all the exterior bells and whistles better focus on the motor for the unstable electric feed and constant brownouts and freezing time between brownouts...............for that better to buy an applicance made here in the phils as they make this thier number one selling point ..............samsung is made here for that very reason for the iffy electric feed

My Samsung non-smart (should that be 'stupid'?) flat screen TV, brought with me from the UK, is soon celebrating it's 11th birthday and no problems ever. I bought a 'Technogas' cooker in Phils, based on the Italian technology - but I think that is also Chinese and although it's had no problems in 2 years I rate certain design points as p*ss poor (can't be the Italians so do the Chinese fiddle around with designs to make it easier to steal from other companies?). I bought a Condura F/F (21 ins, so not as big as you like  ) secondhand and that has been fine. My Koppel inverter aircon has been fine as have my 'Everest' wall-type air-cons (but I am not sure of the longevity of that brand - my builder bought them). Very good information in this thread because I though Fujidenzo cookers are good (until now!).

I have Sharp fridges x's 3 and after almost 3 years, no problems. Most importantly it has to have a label >made in Memphis USA/- The only time I would buy an appliance made in China is if I wanted to bring it home to smash it to bit's with a sledge hammer for a Youtube video.
