The power here is so unstable that if you are going to invest in an inverter type fridge invest in a decent AVR, Servo type ( tighter voltage window than Relay type). Inverter fridge freezers are far better technology but can be more susceptible to the poor power supply and is likely the main failure for inverter AC units here.

A good rule of thumb is to get an AVR that is rated about 3 times the wattage of the device. It is very important for non inverters as the in rush on start up is much higher but still a good guide for inverters also.
KVA to watts is not really 1:1, so be careful if you have no overhead and use the online calculators.

You can get away with a relay type, still far better for the device than not having one but for a new TV the servo type will give the device the cleanest input voltage.

Also if you do plan to ever run it off a generator the AVR will be highly recommended.

I use a group of Fujidenzo servo AVRs and they have been good 5 months in. 2 X 2000 KVA and 2 X 1500 KVA.
The local Panther brand is well reviewed but a bit pricey for the high KVA servo units.

was in appliance business 15 years usa new and used...Best way to buy if you can find it is second hand huge savings from some one moving etc...I would really want to be up to date on parts being available here before buying actually the only real big problem with a refrigerator is the compressor ..other problems are generally fixable like relays timers cold controls cooling fan ... etc...if u do opt for a second hand make dam sure there is no line tap that has been installed as that means gas has escaped from a leak and can do so in 3---6 months again..i would not buy chineese

Totally agree, the first shop we went had 2 of the type of fridge / freezers we want, i asked the salesman is it frost free do we ever have to defrost it ? total blank, my wife translated then we got yes, no, maybe i don't know, i looked inside one of the units for the instruction book but it's not there so asked him for the instruction book, he went and got someone else who i think was an in charge and he said yes it's frost free, he then went on to tell us that the price on the label 57k was discounted to a price at the bottom of the label 54k in writing so small i had to put on my reading glasses to see it.
I said it would be a good idea to put the real price in the big writing, he laughed, we left.

    I don't know.
I'm kinda thinking yous are all Aff yer heids? I am married to a woman from the provinces are many of us are and at this moment in time the only food in our fridge is mine, I have just asked her if she has anything food wise for her and the rest of the family of four, she has nothing at all in it, I also said to her if I was not here and our fridge packed in would she buy another and her answer was; probably not. she says for the most part if she buys Fish for example she will cook it right away, of course there is always left overs, but she never puts anything away in the Fridge it is just a way of life for her, any day of the week in our house there will be things like fish head soup, maybe even some cooked Prawns, or some other concoction containing cats eyes snotter pies and dead mans eyes, good for quite a few days lying around in our CHB hothouse and not refrigerated, still there is never much illness in our house? another thing with these big Feck Off fridges every time you open the door you let out the cool air and that big compressor is working overtime to get it down to the required temperature, so I find our 9.5 cuft fridge freezer Samsung inverter had for over 4yrs is more than ample for this Family of 5, but really only contains my food, Do you really need these big fridges with all the bells and whistles and every time you open the door, the lights go dim?
    Perhaps I'm the crazy one?

You recently told me that brownouts had the advantage of defrosting for you - so now what use is left in brownouts?

Or get a 36 inch tall one and lie it on its side. Cheaper too.
