On the very same day the Philippines records a record number new Covid cases, and with hospitals already struggling, record numbers of nurses resigning because of lousy pay, they lift the lockdown in the NCR??!!!!
My wife is a nurse, tells me a lot of her friends back home are all going to Canada. Canadian government is giving them some sort of short cut residency as a incentive.
Same here in UK There has been a shortage of medical staff for quite a while, which was not helped by "Brexit" and of course Covid. The Army medics have been called to step in to help out in some places just recently
Canada has to be one of the very best choices for OFWs - I would not recommend any going to most of the Middle East (as I am sure many would agree) and not even to the UK. Canada has great respect for its immigrants - many governments could learn from them.
And, to be honest, why would medical staff immigrate into the UK when it has little respect for them and there are far better choices.
And also if you want to go there legally the UK immigration will make you jump backwards through fiery hoops.
We are on the same wavelength about this - they will charge an extortionate amount, not bother to answer the phone, make crazy decisions. But this does not apply to everyone. Enter legally as a Russian crook and a 'Golden Visa' is easily yours for your ill-gotten cash. Then just buy a luxury yacht and get a few Tory MPs on board, a donation to Tory Party funds and you are in - Knighthood coming along soon.
Hmmmm...... if money is the attraction yes other choices should be considered, ( just dont get sick in the US ) As for better treatment or respect I have heard a few stories of Nurses and how they are treated off duty in UAE!!!
