Tucson 6 months old has a possible alternator failure as battery is dead and after jumping off it does not recharge while driving. We live in Pamplona so we called Hyundai for help as it will be risky driving to Dumaguete with a dead Alt so they will come out and jump and follow us back to dealer.... cost is 2500 and they are an hour late with no contact so far .... just a heads up to all of you Hyundai owners...

Is it not possible for them to come along with an alternator and replace it at your place if they find yours is faulty? Would they be using one man on a motorbike to make the visit to jump start and then follow you to Duma? If so, then I guess they might still want 2.500 for coming to replace the alternator but at least you might (emphasised) have your car back in use the same day. Hope it all goes well.

    I don't know.
Usually, diesel engines do not need electricity to run. Sometimes they need electricity to hold back the stop solenoid on the injection pump. Gasoline engines need electricity to work the ignition system. Either way best to charge the battery with a battery charger before you go. Sorry for the late response.

    Soooo
    How did it work out?
Did they finally show up with a real tow truck or a guy with a pickup and ropes to tie off?

LOL, the Hyundai dealer truck showed and the guy attempted to use his repair battery to jump the car and found that it was dead ..... he then took the battery out of his truck and finally jumped the car ... we then drove to Dumaguete where diagnostics showed that the Alt was fine and it was the battery all along... it just stopped taking a charge ... so all's well that ends well I guess...

A lot of insurance plans have a free roadside assistance option as well.

Still have to check our insurance to see if they cover this, but crazy that a covered part on my 6 month old car rendered it not drivable and Hyundai still charged for roadside assistance...

RUSI has free roadside assistance for their motorcycles. You would think that a dealer selling an expensive car would include free roadside assistance.
