I just bought a Dito sim card to activate some old iPhones (not 4g capable and no signal but it worked to activate the phones) and got curious about the signal so I put it in my phone, a Pixel 4A 5G running Android 12. I received the activation SMS and I'm able to send and receive texts but I have no data even though I have full LTE coverage in my area.

I tried downloading their app but it refuses to open on my phone. (Android 12 is brand new and only available on a few select phone models so maybe that's an issue?). I also tried downloading the app on the iPhones (iOS 9, which they say is compatible) but got the same immediate force close. Dito has no web interface and no sms promo loading option. I know my phone is compatible with their frequencies/tech and I have tried all setting options to no avail.

I can send SMS but it refusing to make any voice calls, even to their own support number.

Has anyone had any luck setting up a Dito SIM here? I've sent them a message on messenger but aside from waiting for their response I'm at a complete loss here.

DITO uses VoLTE technology. So if a phone does not support this it won't work. But I guess you checked this already.

My phone has that capability and it is activated. The iPhones do not, which is why they do not find any signal. I think the issue is with the app. It just won't open on any of the phones I have. I'm going to try on the car's Android radio tomorrow. Their data packages are very cheap compared to Smart and Globe, would be nice to switch over if my car's radio antennas are compatible.

    I don't know.
Can someone with DITO please check the LTE band DITO is using in Dumaguete. The modems on Lazada state the following:

Dito can not use if your area frequency band is B28, only B1 B3 B41 can use, so need you call the phone to your sim card service to confirm this Band first thanks

Here are instructions for Samsung phones:

Here is link to LTE Discovery in Android app store:

    Thank you

The cell signal in our area is very poor, my sim is globe and most of the time i get zero bars showing when at home, my wife has smart and in different parts of the house she can sometimes get 1 or 2 bars, as the new dito tower in Valencia is not very far from our house we got a dito sim a few weeks ago hoping that would improve our signal, we got it at Robinsons and the girl told me it was no good for my phone (a 2 year old Huawei Y6)
so we put it in my wife's phone (a new Y7)
Signal was fine in town but when we got home it was zero.
I don't know much about cell signals but people have told me we don't get much signal because our house is surrounded by tall trees, this sounds BS to me as how can a cell signal come into your house through concrete walls but can't pass through trees ?

My understanding with cell towers-and it could be wrong-is that they are mainly directional. You can get signal for about 2 miles or roughly 3km off the non directional sides of the towers. We have this problem when we are at our house in Tubid Bacong, we are just far enough out that the signal is weak at best.

A a general rule cellphone signal is line of sight so anything that interrupts that line will significantly affect the signal - and trees certainly have an adverse affect on cellphone signal, as do buildings, hills and even weather.

Your post reminded me of a column from the NYTimes 2012 from David Pogue, technology changes. When you signed onto the internet you agreed that it changes, trying to make 2012 technology work in 2021 is frustrating, stressful and usually impossible, and unless you have the patience of Job, not worth it.

    <<February 2, 2012..
The below is from the Blog of David Pogue, one of the best techie writers in the country, writing in the NYT. I think it's a very good rationalization of two of the biggest problems we have with computers. Some of you are my generation, and this will resonate more with you than the "youngsters" among us. You could always give away your computer.

    3. Operating Systems Turn Over, Too. Every week, some unhappy reader e-mails me to complain that Apple or Microsoft or Google has updated Software Product X, and that therefore his or her four-year-old Product Y no longer works.

Agreed: It’s a bummer. But this, too, is part of the game you’ve signed up to play. Big software companies make a reasonable effort to remain backward-compatible. But after a few years of progress on Mac OS X or Windows or whatever, devoting the resources and manpower to that task, all for the sake of a dwindling number of holdouts from the late ’90s, is no longer worth it.

You can either remain frozen in time with your older computer/operating system/software combo, or you can upgrade and go with the flow.

    4. Printer Ink Is Expensive. “I spend more on inkjet cartridges every year than I spent on the printer itself!!”
    You’re right. It’s true. It’s a ripoff. It’s appalling. It’s the give-away-the-razors, sell-the-razor-blades business model.
It’s just the way the world works, and you don’t have any great alternatives. File this one under “first world problems.” THIS IS ACTUALLY NOT TRUE IN ASIA.
