    These vegetation cleanings are undoubtedly necessary to prevent possible power interruptions. But for years there has been a discussion in Dumaguete how one could or should lay the power cables underground. In the city center this will probably not happen for a very long time. But one could at least tackle this problem in the areas where there are regular power interruptions due to falling tree branches. Because the brown outs due to this cleanings certainly mean much lesser revenues over the years and for us a lot of frustration.

    I have posted before on this subject that the Philippine republic act states that any trees planted within 2 metres of a property border should be uprooted, so if this was to be actioned along all the main concrete roads a lot of the problem would disappear and less vegetation trimming required.
    I think the concrete roads can be classed as a property border as they belong to the government or LGU.
