Since over two year I got stuck in Europe due to Covid-19. But now coming back in march. Thanks to some forum members I'm quite up to date which restaurants are or still popular in Duma. But about the "hangouts" ? It seems many of these are closed down. Like Flip Flops, Grumpys etc. Are there any new and popular ones in Duma, Bacong or Dauin ? I would be grateful for some suggestions. Gesendet von meinem Redmi Note 8 Pro mit Tapatalk
Sideways Sports Bar...across the street and down abit from where Flip Flops was, Brew Garden...going past Hypermarket towards Valancia near the Pepsi depot. Hillside Bistro...on the left on the Duma Valencia road near Bumble Bee store..opposite. Breaktime Seaside near the new Mooon Cafe and Shaka just past Tiki Tiki bar. Big Billy's in Bacong and Octogon still going strong.
See my post in another section. If the 10pm curfew is not lifted soon, there will even fewer nightlife venues around Dumaguete shortly. I cannot understand why the business owners are not shouting loudly at the governor about it.
There is a curfew? I've been regularly drinking at an establishment well past midnight the past few months. I've been through several checkpoints on the way home after several hours past 10pm and not once have they asked what I was up to.
Try drinking anywhere along the Boulevard after 10pm, not gonna happen (which is where a lot of the new incoming tourists will go). I was at Honeycomb just last night for a beer and live music, to be fair the band did exceed the 9.30pm cut off for live music by playing until about 9.45pm but then it was music off, lights off and all p*ss off. This really needs to change ASAP.
The Brew Garden is nice indeed, it's run by a Belgian guy, he makes his own beer (with a professional brewing installation), which tastes quite good. I'm lucky that it's within walking distance from our house. And yes it's near the Pepsi depot, but opposite side, bunch of empty beer bottles on the street-side wall.
You never did mention Valencia and it is only 15mins to either Bacong or DGTE from there. Mostly the Beer in Valencia is cheaper than any other place, the Red Table for instance is P45 for Pils and P50 for light, they have real draft at P70, the only downside to this place is they have no toilet and you have to go to the public one and pay P4, quite a few nice Foreigners drink there, daytime in the afternoon there is usually a group of old Coffin Dodgers , in the evening you will find a small group of Germans, these are the Guys I drink with, I used to drink with the US guys but many of them are full of sh*t, now the Germans I drink with are also full of sh*t but as I do not understand a word they say so I do not mind and when they do make the effort to speak English for my benefit they usually have something useful to say, a couple of really nice Canadians Brothers are often there and couple of Scandanavians are known to go there, Sunday mornings Valencia farmers market day many Germans gather there, this is their meeting place, 100mtrs from the Red there is a small Resto Bar Perfieto cheap and chearful Pizza P150, burgers around the same, Beer is P55, right next door there is a real Italian Pizza place with a Brick oven these are excellent Pizzas, their Beer is also P55, then there is Naspri Bistro a few Foreigners go there including one from Switzerland, Beer is P60 there I think? A little bit down from there 2klms on the DGTE road opposite Gas and Go we have One G, that is also cheap and cheerful their Chicken or Meat Burger with real French Fries P160, Spicy Wings are also a fair deal and good, Beer is P55, The last time I was in Sideways it was P75 for a Beer being a Drunken Master I cannot afford these prices.
Thanks a lot. Very helpful.https://giphy.com/stickers/Emoji-thumbs-up-emoji-animated-dalJ0CpF7hwmN1nZXe Gesendet von meinem M2101K6G mit Tapatalk
I think Andy pretends to make his own Beer and supplies it to another well known Bar, but it is the other way around he is getting supplied, the Brewing equipment is only for show, ask him to show you it working next time you are in, he is just a fecking shyster, if you believe all you hear you will eat all you see?
I stopped going there because the food was sub-par (started off ok with the chicken strips but got progressively worse during the pandemic), they tried to charge me P15 for a tablespoon of mustard (petty on my part I guess but it was just regular yellow mustard, condiments should be free), and I had to pass the tips to the staff secretly so it went into the correct pockets (I personally saw a previous tip go into the wrong pocket). I thought the draft beer tasted ok and was priced decently if ordering 1 liter...can't say if it was actually brewed in house or not though. If I was just interested in drinking large quantities of beer I guess I would stop in again but I much prefer liquor. Much better options in town for that.
