For Members in Dumaguete and beyond (as in more Southern areas) that have not been to the new [City Hardware] in Sibulan, do know this place is huge with plenty of parking. It has saved me a few dozen trips into Dumaguete as I am in Tanjay City and it is about 3 times larger than the City Hardware in Dumaguete. When I make a list I so far have found all I need there in the way of goods. Just a heads up that I rate it at [AwEsOmE] and have also found some of the lowest prices there....particularly on tiles! Check it out if you have the time to go the extra miles! If your coming from Dumaguete, look for the sign on RIGHT up in the air and from Tanjay and more North, sign is on LEFT. Cheers!
I was in there last week, better and cheaper than City-hardware and yes more parking spaces. Bought some swimming pool tiles 30 x 30 cm 62 pesos each.
City Hardware is a great store for the likes of Tiles and many other things, but in most things they are well overpriced, here are some very recent examples of this; heavy duty 2mm SS Kitchen sink CH P12K on line P3K, simple Faucet or Tap whatever you call them, again is SS on line P179, CH P499 these items are exactly the same just different packaging, here is a link to one company I deal with on line through Shoppee; Best Stainless Steel 304 Kitchen Bathroom Faucet Single Faucet Tap COD | Shopee Philippines The above company Go2 hardware are great for Plumbing and it is quality stuff, door hinges in SS are a fraction of the price in any of the stores here. Now I do understand these big stores have big overheads their AC units for example are massive, and in both CH stores the doors remain open all day, also they seem to pay for a lot of staff, there seems to be hundreds milling around but not exactly when you need them, usually they are around the rest rooms, I just refuse to pay their high profit margins of 2/300% above the on line prices.
My take on buying online vs locally is that yes, I would prefer to support the local economy and buy at local shops, but unless it's for buying an item that is expected to need regular servicing I don't want to overpay by much. And then yes, for many items you can find much better deals online (or pay a similar price for better quality). Obviously for heavy/bulky products the online ordering route is mostly a no go, because of excessive shipping costs.
The shipping company across from McDonald's near Robinson's handles heavy items at a very reasonable rate. I had a 200kg+ home gym delivered from Manila for around P3,500.
