Can't blame him for not wanting to give up his secret. I'm guessing since he doesn't have an office, rent, staff or utilities to pay her can take a smaller cut. Still the question is, where is he exchanging the money at? Maybe he is washing dirty money for some organization and that's just the cost of laundering?
Bad news, i finally went to do the deal with the moneychanger guy but when he saw my twenties were the old paper ones he had to phone his boss and he would not take them. I ended up changing them at Lee Plaza but only got 61.8p to the £1. Bah humbug
The guy I deal with when changing spare sterling or dollars used to hang around the BPI acoss from McDonalds. Always exchanged in McDonalds. Just be aware there are fake P1000 notes in circulation.
I have no paper money left to change nowadays but as i was walking past the exchange place beside Handyman below the Robinsons in town i noticed the rate for GBP was only 58 and my currency converter app shows 73, this is such a difference i had to ask the girl at the counter why so low, she said that's the rate the "office" told her it was. Just out of interest i checked the USD rate and it was 55 which is in line with the app i use. Funny how GBP is so low, it's probably KEIR STARMERS fault
You may find that many Money changes are not conversant the the Pound sterling, In their mind everything is related to The $ so that is most likely what they are quoting
