For the most part this is a complete waste of time. It regurgitates numerous issues that are irrelevant to the relationship between China and the West. (testing of the atomic bomb in the Marshal Islands, various anti war protests against bases in Okinawa, etc.) Another journalist trying to "make work" for themselves. It does have a little footage interviewing Eric X. Li who has an interesting perspective on the differences between China and the US. You can watch discussions with Eric below and save a lot of time. The discussion of the party's organizational department is interesting. Eric X. Li Ted Talk Eric Li 李世默On China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Here is a very well written critique of Eric X Li. https://blog.ted.com/why-democracy-...f-eric-x-lis-a-tale-of-two-political-systems/
I did watch part of some of the videos. not sure how to respond, other than what I have seen of my little world in the USA over the years; no term limits for congress = failure, disappointment in several administrations, etc As George Carlin once said; It's a big club and you ain't in it. As far as his claims on China's system, well, ha, I'll leave that for the experts. Seems like news outlets with their talking heads spend lots of time on; if or when China will attack Taiwan across the strait. With all the CCP naval exercises around Taiwan......makes me wonder if one day, suddenly, before the West reacts, there's a Chinese naval blockade around the island. I wonder if that's more likely to happen.
Doubtful. China is much more dependent on world trade than Russia. Russia can shrug off European and US sanctions and sell their common commodities to other countries. (Oil, natural gas, - India, China) On the other hand, China will not be able to find other buyers for their manufactured items. US and European sanctions could hurt China's exports significantly. All the activity around Taiwan gives their military something to do and takes attention away from the South China Sea. If they did attack the US would not have time to respond in a significant way except nuclear. Taiwan has and needs more missiles.
