    Where in Dumaguete can I buy helmets for motorcycle, and is open face helmet allowed or does it have to be full face helmet according to LTO and checkpoints ?

    Spider in Robinson mall have a nice selection on quality helmets. I see many riders with faceless helmets

    I don't know.
    Anything goes here with regards to helmets. Many riders are using skateboard helmets.
    Tops and Bottoms has low cost full face helmets, gloves, knee pads, etc..

    Certainly open faced helmets are legal as long as they have approved safety certifications one of 5 (ICC...DOT...ECT....CS...SNELL) and on the contrary there are numerous Polititions that want to see Full Faced banned.
    EG:
    Negros Oriental police provincial director, Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, has urged the Sanggunians of the different municipalities and cities in the province to pass an ordinance banning the use of full-face helmet, bonnets, and the use of T-shirts to cover the faces of motorists.
    EG:
    Dumaguete vice mayor had stressed during a privilege speech in the council’s regular session Wednesday that recent killings in Dumaguete and the province had one thing in common: perpetrators were wearing full-faced helmets.

    - Certainly there are many wearing non-saftey, non-approved variations from a Bicycle Helmet to a rusty bed Pan....but by law they could be fined.
    - There is no mention of open faced or full faced in the current Law.

    There is not a separate Law on Helmets in relation to Dumaguete...but there is this>>>> The national helmet law will be implemented in the national highways specifically in the boundaries of Dumaguete to Valencia, Dumaguete to Bacong, Dumaguete to Sibulan, the north national highway, and the port area. Motorists not wearing helmets in city streets and barangay roads will not be apprehended.

    I think it was Rye who posted a few years ago, something like, "if you got a 500p head, buy a 500p helmet".

    Easy to Google that but 2019 over a Dozen, same in 2020. Since than it has gone down . 2021 just 1 and 2022 around 3.

    I stopped by Spider this week and they do have a nice selection and they seem to be priced more affordable than in Robinsons Hardware where I also spotted some helmets. Caution the helmet sizes they do not appear to be the same as US sizes. I wear a medium US and the XL here was still a bit tight. It seems anything larger would have to be ordered since most of their stock is L and XL.
