    I don't know.
    Hi guys,
My dash car camera keeps defaulting to the factory setting date every time I start my car. It’s a pain having to correct the date every time I go out.
Does anyone know of a good technician that could fix it for me.

A lot of computerized gizmos have an internal battery to keep the clock and settings stored.
You might want to try one of the cell phone repair shops. There are a couple on the ground floor of Ever Mall on Perdicies St.

I have installed hundreds of camera systems in commercial trucks, in the US.

If it does not have a battery, it likely has a wire that needs to connect directly to, or a source that goes directly to the vehicles battery for maintaining clocking and calendar settings and powering the device. Similar to most car radios. In that case it most likely has a third wire that needs to go to an ignition source, if you want it to turn on and off with the car. Most likely as it could simply have it's own on/off button with two wires or it could have three wires and an on/off button.

Two questions. How many wires does the device have for connecting to the vehicle? Does it have a button or switch you can use to turn it on and off?

Since yours resets when the key is cycled it sounds like it is wired to an ignition source and to ground. If it only has the two wires and has an on/off button, change the non grounding wire from an ignition source to a battery source. It wont turn on/off with the car. You will have to turn it on and off separately. If it has three wires and they are all connected to the vehicle, you might have the ignition and battery wires reversed, or they could both be connected to an ignition source. A volt meter or test light and the process of elimination will tell you which sources are hot with the key off and which are only hot with the key on.

The good systems can be connected to a modern vehicles communication bus. Not only will they record video, they will record and sycn video with telematics and GPS info. Telematics data like your speed, braking, throttle, turn signals ETC.
