It's a bunch of crooks, they just forgot to reprice the individual packaging.
But yeah, funny how they expose their contempt for customers.

I've noticed it's quite common in City Mall and Hypermart. Always do the maths before choosing. Not sure whether it's deliberately trying to mislead customers, or their maths is just grade 3.

Perhaps the store's math is devious and calculated towards what it perceives as it's average shoppers arithmetic skill and or their ill use of critical thinking.

I think I just called you above average CB.

Many stores just hire and lowball workers. After 1 week an owner picks or deems the best of the bunch to Manage! With no Management training or back ground everything is out of stock, busted, broken, and just crap all around!

Another trick is to package two items in wrappings and make one partly hidden and raised - to conceal the fact it is not full size. As @Dutchie says, it is contempt for their customers.

There are consumers laws here (surprisingly) but seem not to count for much (unsurprisingly) - an upmarket well-known much-loved-by-expats store here which sells frozen foods etc., has shelf prices that are incorrect. I found out when I took an item labelled P54 to the till and was charged P78 - they seemed not to care so I left it there. Even worse, a month later that item was still at P54 on the shelf. I have stopped using that store because I also found that many items are not priced and when I ask a member of staff they trot out any old price and it is usually wrong (too low usually!). More contempt. This store supplies hotels and restaurants and so I think the ordinary customer does not count for much.

There is also the opposite. I've bought things where the price tag was almost certainly wrong. That means the goods were far too cheap. The cashier didn't care. Actually I didn't either. Bad luck for the owner.

I notice that you do not mention the store in question, is this because you fear the motorcycle tandem riders with a contract to silence the orang utang.
I have a cautionery tale to tell which would not be worth telling unless i named the store.
JLH which used to be Don atlanto on the boulevard now called lorenzo on hibbard has a lot of stuff in their freezers dated as far back as July, when i asked about the date i was told it was the date packed not the use by, i then showed the girl one item which had the date 09.13.23, she went to ask the incharge but i got tired of waiting and left before she came back.
