Can anyone recommend the best place to buy a printer/scanner ? by best i mean cheapest.
The last time i bought a printer it was an Epson that had the ink tanks you could refill instead of cartridges.
That was 5 years ago and it cost around 9000php.
Recently it has not been feeding the paper very well and leaving gaps in the print but last week it got so bad it was unusable so i took it to Ace logic for repair, they messaged me today that the repair would cost 6000php and the parts will take 2 to 3 months to come so it's a no brainer, better to buy a new one.
Anyone recommend which brand they think is best ?

My printer is a brother Lazer printer, black and white. A tonner cartridge lasts a long time and the ink doesn't smear if it gets wet. It coughed out sheets at a pretty quick pace

It was about 12k on Lazada.

    I have a Brother DCP-T720DW, a 3 in 1 (print,copy,scan) that can connect wireless.
It is not in the current line-up for Brother anymore (I've had mine for 3 years or so), but it's still available at some dealers, like here .
I bought mine at DG Tech on Perdices Street, they may still have some also.
Obviously it does depend a bit on your needs what your best choice would be, if you don't need colour, and don't need copy/scan functionality, then you should be able to find a cheaper option. Epson and HP are reliable brands also. I would definitely go for a laser printer though, the inkjet stuff is a nono. (cheap to buy but crazy expensive to refill).

Is this something that is used so infrequently that there could be a sharing system? I have an inkjet now 15 years old and run for most years on cheap refills. I last used it about 3 years ago and 6 years before that!

Any costing has to take into account not just the cost of refills (which can be bought cheaper than manufacturer's product - they sell the printer cheap and the refills expensive) but how often it is used. A laser printer used once a year would work out far more expensive than an inkjet I assume (but probably far higher quality).

True. I use mine pretty regularly (my 5th pack of paper since buying it is nearing the end), but if I would calculate the cost per print/copy/scan against the entire cost of the printer so far then that would still come out pretty expensive compared to having the print jobs done at a printshop. Luckily I reckon my printer still has plenty life expectancy in it so ultimately the cost per print will get cheaper than alternatives, plus of course the comfort of printing at home counts also.
I do recognize though that if my use would be only personal, rather than also assisting neighbours and friends, and the printjobs for our HOA, then I'd probably only get to an acceptable cost per page near the end of life for the printer.
At 2500 prints and a cost of 13,000 Php (including paper) I'm currently at around 5 peso per print. If everything I printed had been in colour then that would already be pretty much ok pricewise but I reckon I printed about half in black/white, so it's currently still a bit expensive.

If all you need is a b/w printer (no copy/scan) then your cheapest laser printer option would come in at around 7k.
