Last evening my wife on her return from work, showed me a video of a couple, who out in the park walking, were abused verbally by an older couple. As things got out of hand, the gentleman managed to video his wife defending herself as the older lady grabbed her arm. These things which are happening more often these days, in part are due to the number of illegal immigrants crossings the channel and claiming asylum, some are genuinely fleeing persecution, while others are looking for a better life within the UK. What makes this story a lttle different, is the couple being abused were British Citizens, the lady was a NHS worker and they had lived in the UK for twelve years. They were Filipino's! There is without doubt, cause for concern about the number of people coming to our shores illegally, but there is no place for Racism or Violence. War on poverty is the only war, I would wish to see. just a thought for today....JB
That is one thing that can be said of the Scottish, we are the least prejudiced people on this earth, we dislike everyone! in fact we do not like each other all that much.
With the events happening in Manchester yesterday, 2nd October, it is showing the deeper divide which is opening up in the UK society. Manchester has the second largest Jewish Community in UK after London. The UK has always enjoyed a multicultural society, stemming back over the centuries, certain area's having had thriving industries' Manchester and the north of England known for it's cotton mills, Liverpool a major hub for shipping. these area's attracting people from all round the world. Since my boyhood I have never known such racial disharmony, that is till more recently. So where does the blame lie for the present upheavel? Why are we living in a divided world? Until all nations realise that today's problems are man-made, that this overcrowded planet is drowning in its own selfishness, I think we will never find a solution to lifes problems. May those people who died so violently yesterday and those around the world, who will also die today, rest in peace. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind ...."Mahatma Gandhi"
Let’s not whitewash history. Most of the world’s conflicts trace straight back to British rule. The Empire didn’t just take land — it engineered division. Hindus vs. Muslims, Arabs vs. Jews, tribes split by invisible borders — all deliberate. Divide and rule was the playbook. Britain bled nations dry, then wrapped itself in moral language about “civilisation.” Manchester’s mills ran on slave-picked cotton. London’s wealth was built from stolen labour. The “multicultural Britain” people romanticise is financed by centuries of exploitation. And now we’ve got modern crusaders — Jesus freaks pointing fingers at other faiths as if Christianity didn’t ride shotgun with colonial conquest. Missionaries marched in right behind the soldiers, preaching salvation while dismantling cultures. So spare the lectures about division and morality. Britain wrote that manual, printed it on stolen paper, and shipped it worldwide.
What a truely divided world we really now live in....... Not to be confused Racism and Terrorism, after the more recent attacks in Golders Green, London, the heart of the British Jewish Quarter. Talk now is of a clampdown on protests in UK , caused by the Palestinian Action Group. However what did suprise me was for a gentleman on National TV, to make it clear that a lot of Jewish people now fear to be seen on the streets. He also went on to say " I am a British Jew, British first and Jewish second." he made it clear that he personally did not agree with the Politics presented in Israel, but felt it unsafe for his family to go about its daily routines, while the present situation exsists here in UK. I truely believe that had enough Jewish people here in UK, spoken up and comdemmed the actions of the Israeli military in Gaza, which went far beyond that of retaliation to more like Genocide, we would not of had what is being said to be Antisemitism here in UK today. I personally dont hold any Jewish person here in UK, in anyway responsible for the Israeli Governments actions, and I dont agree to any protests that incite violence. What I do hold dear, is the right to have an opinion, and to join a peaceful protest if so felt. When you lose the right to Freedom of Speech, you are then living under a Dictatorship! Today is just another sad day for mankind, and a little less hope for our Childrens children......JB
