In light of the current world situation, Natural disasters, wars and unrest that holds the media attention, it begs the question, what's the future looking like for our children and our grandchildren.
Can we really offer them hope for a better world to live in.

I search for answers to the hatred and non forgiveness that exists, the greed of the rich and powerful who put no value on human life.
Egotistical attitudes of some world leaders who stand back while innocent people suffer, at the same time they roll out the red carpet for the Tyrants.
Religious indifferences is no excuse for
those who choose to use violent means.
or hatred towards their fellow man.

I fear for the people I love and will leave behind, as my time on this earth eventually comes to an end.
I truely wish I could offer them hope and a future filled with understanding and peace.
May those who's lives have been stolen from them, in the recent horrific circumstances, rest in peace.

I share your concerns John, it looks like the threat of (expanding) war is getting bigger by the day, my days in the military at the height of the cold war feel like a walk in the park now.
On top of that there are political developments in many countries that shift the focus to perceived national interests rather than cooperation, exactly at a time when cooperation is desperately needed.
As far as the climate is concerned it may be already too late to avoid a really bad outcome down the road.
Add to that the stuff you already mentioned and the future looks very bleak indeed.

Let's think of a world full with John Boys and compare it with a world of YHBRs. It's a no-brainer.

Another Great piece from John Boy - I am awarding you the same type of Peace Prize that FIFA gave to Trump, but in your case it's deserved.

It's so difficult to know what will dominate the direction of this fragile planet:

    1. Climate change - we have left it too late and a lack of worldwide consensus (seemingly getting worse) means things look ominous.
    2. Wars - autocrats who are elderly (e.g. Putin) may think they have little to lose by escalation and bravado and so cause global destruction. MAD is not the restraint is used to be. And, of course, climate change could create wars due to land and water resource issues.
    3. AI - my major concern or hope. Does, for example, AI take over routine tasks and give humans less work-related stress, help cure diseases at an unimaginable rate, act as a judge on the governing of countries and take over that role in a benign way (this could eliminate the two concerns of climate change and global wars). OR will AI (and all its continual iterations) 'look around' and see humans (perhaps all life forms) as irrelevant. No-one knows but everyone should be concerned - the rate of development is now rapid and will accelerate at a huge rate once AI passes a certain unstoppable threshold. And it WILL be impossible to stop - why would any of the major countries take the risk of allowing its adversaries the power of AI whilst they have none? It's the same scenario as nuclear weapons - the movement will always be towards more countries possessing greater power, not less. So AI could be benign and create a golden age, where humans flourish, have true equality (for example by nullifying existing wealth differences and instead giving the same credits to everyone to access foods and other goods), live forever (???), be free of work and illness and where extreme governments no longer exist to continue the existential threats we currently face. But why should it?
