Police to list foreign nationals in NegOr town for safety

DUMAGUETE CITY – Police authorities in Negros Oriental are set to account for foreign nationals residing in the province as part of efforts to strengthen security and monitoring following the recent killings of two American nationals.

Capt. Stephen Jaynard Polinar, spokesperson for the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) and concurrent chief of the Provincial Tourist Police Unit, said Thursday that Dauin Mayor Galicano Truita had requested that the local police conduct an inventory of foreign nationals living in the town.

Dauin is considered the province’s premier tourism hub and hosts a large number of foreign residents and visitors.

OH, WAIT A MINUTE, what if that list was to fall into the hands of criminals or heaven forbid be passed to them by the PNP, that would certainly make the criminals job much easier

 

One branch of the government needs information already in possession of another branch of the government. I guess the tourism police can't get the information from the NBI, the BI nor my Barangay Captain. You would think they would be more accommodating in the name of protecting us, right? Then again, not giving our locations to the Tourism Police might be protecting us.

Sorry officer, this home does not have an address. No house number, no street name. It's between the coconut tree and the next unnamed street if that helps.

 

I suspect window dressing as the main driver behind the entire initiative.
Besides, I doubt even this attempt will produce a reliable list. Them foreigner retirees keep coming and dying (most of them naturally, after a while) so within a year any list, even if somewhat accurate at the start will be hopelessly unreliable. After that, it'll get worse year after year.

 

This will be impossible as it means that the police will have to leave the police station to do it and the only time i see them outside is when they do the pointless motorbike roadblock checks that would catch only blind people.

 

Instead of them coming to you, they could require you to go to them. They can call it an annual report or something See, problem solved.
