Swany thank you for the advice but I am not ready for POETRY.com

I doubt my poetry honestly for 3 reasons. First, English is not my native tongue. Secondly, I am an engineer and everyday I dwell with technicalities rather than nature. Third, as what John Boy observed. or shall I say, lack of elements in writing contemporary poetry.

But of course I am not giving excuses. Poetry is Freedom. That is why I choose to post my poetry on this site and welcome comments too. POETRY.com I will be there if I am ready.

    Killing Rhymes of Poetry

Nat King Cole’s gone, leaving rhymes
John Denver plunged his songs and poetry
    Into verses of contemporary sea
And Rod Stewart hangs with his wrinkles
    That slowly consume his novelty
Would rappers kill rhymes of poetry?

    The Leaning Tower of Pisa
    Watches baroque reflection lately
    From the glass-wall architecture
    Poets cease to scribble
Though, still type to write and free
Would crystal kill rhymes of poetry?

Mona Lisa’s smile echoed across time
Did Picasso put death on Da Vince?
    Or did e e Cummings poison…
Allan Poe’s wine, poems and genres?
    Where none was sentenced guilty
Would free verse kill rhymes of poetry?

    Comments are welcome...

Hi Boom 'E' rang, you amazed me. You are really good! Why don't you accept that you're good. I have to tell you, me neither, English is not my native tongue. I'm originally from the 'city of gentle people', but currently live in California. Poetry.com site is not a sophisticated site otherwise I won't post my poetry there, and most of the posters are amateurs. All you have to do is write your poem directly to the site and then if you have to edit it yourself just click 'edit'. You have to believe in yourself that you are a gifted person. swany

    9/11 Commemoration

    9/11 Anniversary

As we are about to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary

We reflect on that fateful morning

When the two magnificent towers horrifically collapsed

Right infront of our very eyes

Three thousand souls helplessly awaited their fate

    Some could not wait

    They leaped to their death

    While reminiscing that fateful day

    The chaos around the city

And the grim reminder of once,

Where the Twin Towers stood majestically, now it's ground zero.

Still I'm in disbelief, it happened in our country

America the Superpower, but vulnerable in some way.

May the souls of those who perished

    Will eternally rest in peace.

    Swany (2008)

This is in memory of those who perished and to their loving families and also to my friend who was
in one of the Twin Towers.

A reminder of those who lost their lives... may they rest in peace
It is a day the World will never forget.
An Act of Pure Hatred/Terrorism that no man can justify.
We are all in Gods Hands and must also answer for what we do in this life.

    Courage

    Courage
The English word for courage comes from the French word coeur "heart"
so it comes from the heart.

It takes courage to face the truth about yourself
It takes courage to change when staying as you are feels more comfortable
It takes courage to stand for your convictions when you know they'll be challenged
Courage usually involves getting it wrong before you get it right

Ralph Waldo Emerson said....Whatever you do you need courage
Peace has it's victories, but it takes brave men to win them

these words come from the UCB "Word for Today"

hahaha..i like this quote..procrastination has no escape:

I don't believe in total freedom for the artist. Left on his own, free to do anything he likes, the artist ends up doing nothing at all. If there's one thing that's dangerous for an artist, it's precisely this question of total freedom, waiting for inspiration and all the rest of it.

    - Federico Fellini (1920 - 1993)

......."We're busy doing nothing all of the day through" comes from a song just can't remember where, a cartoon film I think.
But yes procrastination, nice word, just looked up the meaning, careful it can become a habit !
Chill out don't think to deeply......there's always tomorrow. hehehe

The song ' Busy doing nothing' is from ' A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court'. Sung by Bing Crosby.

We're busy doing nothing, working all day through,
we're trying to find lots of things not to do.
We're busy going nowhere, isn't it such a crime ?
we'd like to be unhappy but we never do have the time.

I have to watch the river to see that it doesn't stop,
and stick around the rosebuds so they'll know when to pop.
Better keep those crickets cheerful, they're really a solemn bunch,
farso, farso. I never have the time for lunch.

I'd like to meet a turtle, and teach him how to swim,
then I have to shine the dew-drops, they're looking rather dim.
Meet my friend the robin and buy him a brand new vest.
Farso, farso, I never have time to rest.
