AN American national was found naked and lifeless inside his rented hotel room in Cebu City.

The victim was identified as James Joseph Woulfe, 64 years old, resident of 9999 Macias Road, Bacong, Oriental Negros and hails from Texas, USA.

Belated reports reaching Camp Crame showed, the victim was found inside room 215 of Casa Rosario Hotel located at 101-E Ramon Aboitiz St., Caputhaw, Cebu City.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim checked-in last February 23 and was scheduled to check-out at 12 noon of February 26.

However, the victim failed to leave his room on the scheduled time that prompted the hotel management to check on him.

A hotel room boy identified as Dennis Hadauan went to the room of the victim and knocked several times but the victim failed to respond so Hadauan reported the incident to the management.

 

American survives shooting in Dumaguete

What about this incident? Is kind of crime commonplace in Dumaguete?

MANILA, Philippines — An American was shot after trying to fight off three muggers in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental last Wednesday, an online news site reported Friday.

Visayan Daily Star (Welcome to the VISAYAN DAILY STAR Website) reported the incident occurred at the Amigo Subdivision in Piapi village in Dumaguete.

Shot in the leg was Paul Homer Wilson, of Oklahoma. He was mugged while walking in the subdivision at 5:30 a.m., the report said.

Wilson said he was waiting for a taxi to bring him to the pier. He added that of the three muggers, only one had a real gun, while the others had replicas.

 

That was a somewhat rougher neighborhood to be in for a lone Kano at 5:00am. Without more details its hard to judge exactly what happened except that an armed mugging did occur.

Unfortunately it is not only tourist and expats discovering Duma but out of town opportunist are flocking there also. With all of the unrest in the southern regions, the diaspora are moving north, lets just hope that they keep on moving north.

 

Just read the post about the man found dead in his hotel in Cebu. It doesn't make clear what the cause of death was or if foul play was suspected. From the report it could be anything, including a heart attack. Does anyone know any more details? Thanks

 

Death in Cebu

I believe the official police report stated that the guy died when he suddenly stopped breathing. That's the usual cause here.

But the police said that after the 33 stab wounds, he was in such pain that he shot himself twice in the head. It was the coroner who concluded he died of natural causes. (quit breathing)

 

Mmmmmm.....does happen when you stop breathing.

 

Was that before or after he bound and gagged himself?
