    Dr.G or 2 Blackbelts,

    Just wondering .........'cuz
I thought that in a recent posting (in a different catigory) you had said that you would probably move to Cebu because your business partner prefered Cebu to Dumaguete, and that after you asked around DGTE you were not satisfied with the information you found as to opening a gym, chiropractic, etc business here? Or words to that effect....very similar to what I've expressed......now you are saying your place is for sale because your daughter is ill.......WHICH IS THE CORRECT REASON, DOC????????

I have been to see the house. And I am curious how much actual deeded, titled land is included? It's a curious question since the house is built partially over the water and partially on reclaimed land. It would seem to me that the entire house is constructed within the government's 20 meter from high-tide no-build zone (and not to mention government owned zone). The titled land of which you speak, would that be the road to get there?

    Our estate...

Actully, I don't remember every mentioning Cebu. I had a chiropractor friend who was looking at Cebu. It was either Duma., or stay home. I always planned on opening a chiro office - gym - health spa - self defense center if I moved over.

With two in laws in a nursing home, and an 83 year old mother living alone, and an 18 year old daughter who has had both transplant, and by pass surgery, moving overseas is not an option. Thus the reason for selling.

Mr. Lu has a very extensive map and survery of the actual property included. One reason this project has taken so long, is the continued trips to the site by government officials to inspect the locating of the house, setbacks, environmental concerns, etc. The house, plans, seawall, etc. all have been signed off on by the Department of Natural Resources, as well as all local agencies from Zambo, and it seemed like there were way too may of these, so there are no problems at all with this project.

If anyone has questions, just emial me.

    Clever ?

    2blackbelts posted in another thread:
"We are building a home, on land owned by our contractor, that we have a perpetual lease on. However, to save space on the forum, I will not post the appx. 20 pages of legal documents that we had done by a prominant Dumaguete judge, along with several attorneys. We also had the documents reviewed by a retired judge in Manilla"

Does any1 think it is clever to buy the house when the lot belongs to somebody else ?
    After 25 years renewable ?

Everyone wants to buy land on the beach.

I really don’t get it, why does everyone want beach front land? Not that Dumaguete is on the list or anything yet. But the Philippines is suffering from global warming already. In 2007 Philippines was at the top of the list. There are 20 provinces in the country which are vulnerable to a one-meter rise in sea level.

These are Sulu, Palawan, Zamboanga del Sur, Northern Samar, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan, Cebu, Davao del Norte, Bohol, Camarines Sur, Quezon, Tawi-Tawi, Masbate, Negros Occidental, Camarines Norte, Capiz, Catanduanes, Samar, Zamboanga del Norte, and Maguindanao.

Why not drive to the beach?

I have been told by a friend who has seen this house that it is a disaster inside - stains down the walls from whatever was painted on the coco lumber roof trusses, sliding doors jammed because the builder used drawer slides for the track! I will try to see it myself soon so I can confirm that but he is a reliable guy. My interest is that the supposedly wonderful Mr Lu built a house for me too and made a complete mess of that - at least the bits he finished. I have given up waiting for him to finish everything I paid for - speaking to a lawyer.
