I didn't want to go into melodramatic details of the how's and why's im in the Philippines. I made a few mistakes, & i ended up getting "stuck" here. I didn't have any "family" other than the little bit my mother has sent to us from time to time. The response on get the hell out of here & back to the states. That didn't offend me, and yes its the cold hard truth. But the cold hard truth with keeping my family going, the money for the plane ticket back to the states hasn't been there.

I couldn't even fund my way back. My uncle recently said he'd pay my ticket back. But my informer inside of immigration had a stroke. Now I don't know "where" i stand in the terms of being legitimately here as its quite a story....

I've had 2 jobs here, my first job I received a work visa good up until august of 2010. I was terminated via email without reasons given & i was a permenant status employee. (which all three breaches terminating me in philippines labor laws) I was employed in Clark. I filed a grievance with the CDC, who decided in favor on my behalf but they are just mediators. They did not file to downgrade my work visa because they stated "legally" i'm still employed with this company, since they could not "legally" terminate me...

Problem is - is the Philippines immigration on the page as the CDC & DOL in terms of employment laws would be...& I've been here long enough to know if I go galloping into immigration their gonna extort me any possible way they can, when I explain the situation if there is no blotter on my visa/passport. Then again if there is, and I waltz in there, I could be apprehended. So.....anyone got any ideas on that? If I just go into the airport, and they try to hit me with all these crazy fees that I wont have the $ for what do I do???

So point being the $$ is there to get the hell out of this place, but I need the 411 on how to get the hell out of here without being extorted, put in prison, etc :-P

My father hasn't worked in 2 weeks, he ripped his rotor cup in his left arm, so as of march we will have virtually $0 coming in the door here, so I've got to get back to the states within 2 weeks, find work & support my family in the states & family here in the philippines - haha. I musta really pissed god off somehow.

To JRL1978, My advice to you regarding your Philippine Immigration problem is simple. Try going to the American embassy and getting yourself declared American in distress, If the US embassy will do that then Philippine Immigration can't extort you for any fees. I believe there is some sort of agreement with the United States government and the Philippine government that protects you in this kind of situation as long as they will declare you an American in distress. I had a friend that overstayed his visa for more than 20 years and Philippine Immigration finally caught up to him, He had 2 choices, pay over $38,000 dollars/not pesos in over stay fees and hidden charges or go to the embassy and get declared an American in distress and pay nothing. Philippine Immigration was very angry that they lost out on all that money and there was nothing they can do to collect on my friend. I think in your situation you qualify. Atleast Philippine Immigration can't screw with you.

Yes, that might work to take the heat off...but getting out of the country AND supporting your family.

'From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli.....'

If you're up to it give them a try in Honolulu. If qualified you should be able to talk them into a ticket to HNL for initial processing. Your family will be fine...even during that initial period in boot camp and MOS training you'll be getting enough dollars to send back and keep them going comfortably. Not like you have anywhere else to spend it....
Son started as a bare-@ss private, rose thru the ranks, and worked himself up to warrant officer. Now on about $90k a year, with his housing allowance, plus d*mn good benefits....He loves it. I enjoyed my time in the Corps...even Vietnam in it's way....best thing I ever did.
