Hi, We are in the process of getting quotes from a few freight forwarding companies and I was just wondering if it might be cheaper for us to make arrangements to ship our car ourselves. Anyone have any idea how much the cost is to ship a car from Manila to Dumaguete (port to port)? One company is giving us a 15,000 php price for the car alone. Thanks!!
Shipping a car? About a year ago, I got a quote from the Super Ferry to transport my multi-cab to Manila from Dumaguete. They quoted 14,000 at that time. I suspect it would be about the same cost for the other direction. I suggest that you might stuff your car full of things to save on your other shipping cots.
shipping car Thanks!! So I guess the quote we got is about right, then. Yes, we had discussed putting as much stuff as we could inside the car.....not sure how that works when we have to drive the car into and out of the container....I guess just so there is enough room for the driver, huh?
Do they have to put it in a container when you have it shipped? The cost difference of buying a car in manila and dumaguete is about 30,000 pesos. Is it safe enough and do they handle good for this kind of cargo? How about travelling it by land from manila to dumaguete? Its time consuming but i think you can save more?
It is on deck or in the hold its not in a container(I guess you were joking about that) You can drive it down and use the Ro-Ro ferry system for about 10k or less including fuel accomodation etc its a day and a half trip manila-batangas ferry to Calapan drive thru mindoro to Roxas-ferry to caticlan-drive thru Iloilo ferry to Bacolod the drive down to Dgte
driving by land from Manila to Dumaguete A container is an option, not a bad one from what I understand, either. But, it would be logistically impossible to DRIVE from Manila to Dumaguete unless we had a James Bond amphibious vehicle....would love to have the option of driving, though.
container for shipping No, I wasn't kidding....this was an option given us by one of the forwarders, and actually, some friends here who have done it both ways, said the container is a very good way to do it. Thanks for the info!
my advice go land trip from luzon going to masbate to leyte cebu then negros, it takes 30 hrs. and saves you a lot of money, you will be spending less than P10t
Land trip? If there were bridges between all of these islands, it would be possible. Also, 30 hours land trip with an oxygen dependent husband doesn't sound too appealing. Also, there are dangers of the NPA and other bandits on such a road trip. I am thinking the extra $$ will be worth it to have it shipped. Thanks, though!!
the longest ferry on the route is 5.5 hours I would think the NPA would not be a problem on the route unless of course you wanted to give them a lift someplace
