I told Azon about this and she said not to worry too much, it seems that the majority of OB Docs here, prefer a C. section to eliminate any complications, that can't be dealt with in a lot of cases. Me I am not sure but from my understanding, the average pinay has a smaller pelvic movement than those ladies of US and Brit origin. As Crislyn may know, Trisha was a Big baby at 9.15 lb and Azon was not capable of birthing as Norm, At 45.000p 11 years ago, she is worth every cent, penny, ceventos. Many people will say, that Mother-Baby Bonding, is suspect with a CS birth, You have met my 2 and I think you know that this, in our case, is not true. I know that you are concered but can I just say, listen to other members here, hear the OB Docs and let nature, which ever way it needs to go, take it's course. Me! My wife has 'big bones' for a filipina, not petite like some. Our children are born looking like baboy, but thinned out during the years to looking like a scrawny unfed kittens....maybe it's not enough rice in their diet here in Australia

 

Son 8.8lbs and a whopping 21 inches by cesarian
Daughter 5.11lbs also cesarian
of Filippino mon and caucasian dad.

Wife advised not to get pregnant anymore. Somehow in this instance forced birth control really pissed me off but I am living with it.

Both at 6 and 9 are 4 foot tall today.

 

Thanks Pedro, interesting in the birth size difference of the boy and the girl. Seeing your less-than-6pounds daughter required c-section, and reading the other post contributions I believe my wife will be going the c-section route, even though no one in her family has required a c-section. In fact, my wife will be the first to have one born in a hospital.

 

C Section Baby

My daughter weighed exactly 7 lbs. and 19.68" tall. She also scored a perfect 10 on the Afgar test. To this day (3 years later) she has enjoyed perfect health. She was delivered by C section by Dr. Nailani Tan due to the small size of Mom and expectations for the baby to come in between 7 and 8 lbs. I recall Mom recovered fairly quickly from the C Section but to this day still has pain there from time to time.

Thank you everyone for sharing your information on this thread, it has been valuable. I found it extremely interesting the variable sizes of the babies. I would say the average cost today for a c-section, based on your submissions, will be in the 70,000 peso range, with Philhealth picking up a generous portion of the cost. Also, it appears more wives here required a c-section than natural birth, which I guess should not be surprising given a foreigner's typical size and the wife's.

Pat! Trust all this has relaxed you a little, you seem to have it all to hand, you certainly have enough Answers now, to ask the questions about the things you don't understand. Hi pato! Im a new member here, im a filipina originally from cebu and just recently moved in dumaguete.my husband is aussie and our son weighed 9lbs when he was born. Im petit, i had a c-cut due too he was too big but 3 days before i gave birth the doctor told us he wont be any bigger than 7lbs because i was so tiny anyways, i was on labour for 10 hours and they forced me to have a natural birth, it was a very unpleasant experience and i blamed it all to the indian nurse as well as my dumb doctor! Lol. After 10 hours in pain and baby in distress they decided to do c-cut, i gave birth to a private hospital in sydney and did i mention that they didnt give me any pain killers eg epidural because the nurse was too late, she took a break and said she was gonna come back in 5 minutes, 5 minutes resulted to an hour and by the time she came back i was alreay fully dilated! Lucky baby is very healthy and dad and mum are very happy and proud :-)

 

Wow, 9lb. is a big baby for a petit filipina to have, must be all the Fosters or Cascase Aussies drink (Garbonzo said his first was 9-10. Sounds like your experience in Sydney was not fun.
It turned out my wife had a C-section, the baby weighed 7.6 and is a healthy 9 1/2 mos. old today and average height and weight, wife healed quickly.
