Hi, I'm looking for a used / inexpensive walker for a little 8 year old girl in Siquijor that is suffering from cerebral palsy; preferably one with two front wheels. Size doesn't matter because we will adapt it to suit the child. Any information or help would be appreciated. You can respond to this post, send me a private message, or contact me at cell: 09261313758. Thank you. Steve

We Have the Walker - Thank You! Thank you so much, Jim, for your efforts as well as your generosity. The walker will be given to the little girl on Monday. I am sure it will improve her quality of life. I will try to get pictures of her with the walker and post them next week. Great to see there are still good people with big hearts in this world! Thanks again!
wonderful guys, great job ! looking forward for the pictures with big eyes and maybe a smile thanks to you 2.
Fantastic! Great news to Read this happening so quickly, well done Steve & Jim Jack P. (With a big Tear in his eye)
Pictures of the Little Girl Here of the pictures of the little girl from Siquijor with Cerebral Palsy. I am including the letter from the Siquijor Rotary Club. Thanks again Jim!!! "Please find enclosed two photos of the girl with cerebral palsy who received the walker that you and your friend kindly provided. Her name is Gyrah Mae Tirol. Her mother (pictured helping her) is Milan Tirol. Her teacher (also in one of the photos) is Elizabeth Bucol. The pictures were taken in the special education classroom at San Juan Central School, Maite, San Juan, Siquijor, April 4, 2011. When we first learned of Gyrah, she had difficulty sitting by herself and was unable to stand or even to grasp objects. After more than a year of physical therapy, medication, and vitamins, she can sit, grasp objects, and walk with assistance. It will take time for her to learn to use her walker and there is no guarantee of a positive outcome, but already she is making progress. Her teacher Liz is very good and I’m sure they will work hard on it. On behalf of Gyrah, her family, the school, and the Rotary Club of Siquijor Island, thank you for your help." Great News :o Steve, So nice to see a story like this, it makes me realise just how Lucky I have been with all 4 of my children. Should things not have worked out like that, I just hope I would have had someone like you to help out in this way, Well done Jack P.
Steve/Jim, very nice work. We, as a group, should try and to more donations like that. As an example, the Mad Dog motorcycle club (Makati Hq) has many activities they do for charity as a group. If everyone pitches in a little, it can go a long way. Just a thought.
Handicap Club in Dumaguete. Sorry for missing out on this thread. Been gone for a while. Happy to here the outcome for this young girl. Great job done! Maybe we should start an organization here in Dumaguete so a situation like this girl needs is an automatic fix. Let start a club and I chip in the first P5000. In my field I meet handicaped youngsters every day, the ones who hear and speak within a very limited range. It is so sad but the little we can do is for the better. Money is needed. Many filipino families with hearing handicapped children, and some are unable to speak, and the family have no money. I am happy to know ENT's in Dumaguete who cares and they help hearing and speech impaired children in Dumaguete. There are special schools in Dumaguete for hearing and speech impaired children. Lots of good teachers in the Sign language. Money is needed for all handicapped children, whatever the handicap is. Hope to hear from others who cares. Benjamin
