Where can we buy Boraxo?

One nice American gentleman that I met at the Taco Salad get together was in Lee Plaza the other morning and we talked a bit. He said he was looking for Boraxo hand cleaner to help make a kind of homemade ant killer. So far he had not been able to locate any. I don't know if he reads much here, but thought it is the best place to ask.
Don't know of any other countries, but any American in his 50s or older should know what it is, at least from watching the TV show Death Valley Days, brought to you by 20 Mule Team Borax, which was a laundry booster, while Boraxo was a hand cleaning powder. It worked great by the way. We always had a can of it by the sink when I was a kid.
Death Valley, Calif was a prime location for borax mining.

Some people have said it is available in Lee Plaza. Every time I have looked for it, there is none to be found.

 

It is a common ingredient is laundry powder. Try checking the ingredients on the package.

 

I brought a packet from Lee Plaza a couple of weeks ago, for the same reason. From memory it was down near the baking section.

it isn't as common as it once was. For example Borateem does not have any borax even though it used to and by it's name you would be led to believe it does still.

Since it would likely have to be imported here, it may not be as commonly used as in US soaps and detergent powders.

Next time I'm buying detergent, I'll check some labels.

Why not tell him about Borax? It is sold in most auto parts stores and many hardware stores as welding flux. It is the real deal, not deputed with soap! It is available in Matiao in the automotive section. Yellow can.

You can buy Borax in Lee..It is in a small clear plastic bag and usually in the curry powder ,dried mushroom area.. once in a while, it is where it should be...in the laundry soap area..Miguel

 

I guess it should not be too incredulous that Meister Proper is looking for Borax. But should you also look like him, that would be something. Perhaps scandalous also.

 

Well, it's definitely something, but I'm not sure scandalous fits.
