    Eye Clinic

    ACES is good (+6335) 422-ACES
Also, I was having retinal concerns a few months ago and was referred to Dr. Jabines of the Dumaguete Eye and Laser Center. He said Holy Child has a top notch Eye Clinic. Luckily I haven't needed treatment yet, but we are keeping an "eye" on the situation!! Here are some numbers I was given, not sure if they are Dr. Jabines direct number or the Eye Center's: 420-2212, 420-2210, 421-0198, and 225-4414.

....not that I say they aren't, but I heard "top notch" too many times for certain facilities here (and was at quite a few medical and educational facilities), most of the time a important add-on was not voiced out..."top notch for Dumaguete and only if you don't look around anywhere else"

Example: we have a "top notch" recompression chamber since 5 years here, but it is still not running.

Whatever treatment one needs, it is a good idea to do a intensive research to have 3-5 alternatives, just to be prepared.

    Hi Rhoody..how are you..long time?
So true but we are just looking for a eye test and new glasses is all so just want a place with decent testing equipment.
You are right about the recompression chamber..the shamber guys in Cebu told me there is one here but no one is operating it! Be nice to save the six hours to Cebu!
    Cheers

Make sure they clean the lenses, years back in Puerto Galera I walked out of a clinic with an attest that I was half blind until I went to another clinic, suddenly I could see again almost perfect again, well enough to spot hip-swinging mermaids all across the small lalaguna bay...

the guys in Cebu are a kind of right. Nobody is operating the chamber, as it is not operational and never was installed after being delivered/donated. We had meetings 6 years ago where we discussed that topic and there were plenty of operator volunteering. Operating a chamber for SCUBA related issues is no rocket-science and it might take more time to learn the mechanics of the chamber than learning to stick to the few tables used for that procedure. My operator license expired last year but it would be easy to renew it.

    Top notch?

My eye doctor told me they have state of the art eye laser equipment (one of the few places that have it in the country, actually), and a few months back the mayor had to have some urgent eye needs taken care of, and he went to Holy Child...so, I would say he is probably going to the best place available here in Dumaguete. I can't speak from personal experience, but I know that is where my eye dr. told me to go if my retinal problems worsen...he said to go to the E.R. immediately and have them page him and he will have to treat me with the laser there. If all you need is eye check and new glasses, there are several optical shops around town that do that, very inexpensive, too. If you want a thorough eye exam with glaucoma test, you will have to go to Holy Child, though, as they can't do that at the optical shops. Maybe ACES can do that.....they have most equipment available there, too.

    Help with the Hyperbaric chamber.

    Hi Roody,

Just reading through the posts and came across this one regarding the Hyperbaric DDC in Dumaguete.

I am a saturation diving superintendent with a major oil and gas producer and have over 25 years experience with mobilizing and commissioning Air & mixed gas systems such as the one you mention.

If I could be of any assistance in helping to get this system up and running just drop me a line and I’m happy to take a look at it and offer some free advice and time to help out.

I work overseas on a one month on, and one month off tour of duty; so I am in and around Dumaguete on a regular basis.

I currently have a place up at Sibulan so not so far for me to come. I will be home next on 25th February.

Look forward to hearing from you.
