I went to the barangy office and mentioned that rubbish was not collected. I explained quietly and carefully that dumped rubbish attracted wild dogs which might has rabbies. As there are a few schools in the area, children could get bitten and get rabbies. And guess what the rubbish was collected. Speaking to the rubbish truck driver, he will do the round every Saturday. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts. I found an excellent Italian restaurant in Bacolod. Possible to buy house red by the glass, and excellent salads, soups and pastas. Amazing
Well, people need to complain, which isn't much of a habit in the Philippines. Other than complaining to each other, which doesn't help does it?
The name of the restaurant is "Italia" I think, which is no great surprise. Don't know the street name but its in a small street more or less behind CITI hardware downtown. Also there is another good place next to Fisher ? hotel in Lucson Street.
I'm in Bacolod now. Me and the wife spent a week touring Negros Occidental. We're looking for a place to buy property, and start a business for the family. It was our first to Bacolod, but definitely not our last. I'm very impressed with the hotels, and restaurants we have visited here in Bacolod. the shopping is also great. I've lived in Ermita, Manila for about 4 years now, and was very surprised to find things that are unavailable in Manila. Such as 8 year old "Wild Turkey" bourbon, real cheesecake at the coffee shop, and wide roads, with minimal traffic. We found a really nice pension house called Saltimbocca on Lacson and 15th. It's next to the coffee shop I mentioned, and only a few blocks north of a great, low price Japanese restaurant. We got a queen size bed (foam mattress) with a/c, good cable tv selections, phone and hot water for 900 pesos. The place isn't a luxury hotel, by any stretch of the imagination. But it's clean, has very helpful, attentive staff, and a great free breakfast included in the price. I'll post some pics of the shady, plant filled court yard and pool areas when we get back to Manila.
You don't know what Ilonggos are like. They are known to be quick-tempered and "isog." LOL. Both my parents were from Bacolod. We had visited the place during fiestas when I was a kid, and I do not know why I haven't grown fond of the place. As an adult I have gone there only twice and I still do not feel at home there.

So they say. Asawa ko says the same thing, Ilonggos are mean. I guess if you are from the gentle city all others appear "mean" to you. Its good to hear that they have decent restaurants with good service so we do know that it can be done in the provinces. I would like to visit but my honey did not enjoy her business trip last time out so that will be on the back burner.
I found everyone we talked with in Bacolod to be very friendly and helpful. Here are those pics of Saltimbocca I promised. They have this crazy, talking mina bird in the courtyard. He whistles, and speaks in Tagalog, Visayan, and English. I figure the bird is male, since when I was sitting next to him using the netbook, while my wife was still in the room, I couldn't get him to say anything. As soon as the wife shows up, he starts whistling at her, and talking his head off-
Please tell more about Bacolod, I wanna learn deeper about Bacolod. Right now, I'm researching the place deeply as well as their rates of different properties. I am amazed about Ayala group are investing so much there as well as SM. Maybe I can survive there where the people got a lot of buying power. My family are planning to move there asap.
