I homebrew here in NZ using Coopers Extract Kits - their European Lager is similar to San Miguel Pilsner. When I relocate to Dumaguete I will not try to compete with SM tho :D their price and quality is OK for my Lager tastes and their Negra OK for a dark. What I will be doing tho is using my distilling skills to craft exotic liqueurs, vodkas and light rums in the schnapps tradition. Hopefully they will ferment OK with a sugar boost or I will re-distill the cheaper Vodka, Rhums etc and macerate or infuse the fruits. I intend to drink 12-24 pieces of SM a day - so no longer interested in brewing my own beer ! :p

sounds like a good idea if you have distilling equipment and with all the cheap sugar round should be easy bump up the specific gravity......I think honey is expensive and hard to find in the PI or I'd suggest trying to make meads. I do them here in Hawaii and use a lot of our tropical/exotic fruits to make some unique flavors. I don't brew my own to compete with any commercial craft brewer but rather to make better beers(ales) and design my own recipes which doesn't offer much flexibility when using extracts or kits. For sure the Cervesa Negra is their best product...if you want a dark lager.....but certainly better than any Budweiser or Swinelager....opps Steinlager. Aloha

    Home Beer Brewing

What a nice topic, hhmmm how its good for the peole in the Middle East anyway can you please post something here how to make it so we can make our own beers here since it really hurts a fortune when you buy beers here, why its because you can get it from the Hotel who is license to make business so if you happen to love drinking beers then forget it though sometimes people like me spend just to get pleasure and enjoy it because you have no choice so if you have some tips kindly post and reply here so we can brew it here..
Ahh i guess i will wait for anybody who is expert making home brew stuff,it will help alot of people like me who enjoy the night with bubly stuff.....

    Hi,
I am also interested in brewing beer in the P.I. One of my (many) concerns though is how to cool the wort quickly before pitching yeast. I usually use a coiled copper wort chiller but it uses alot of water, which I think may be problematic in the P.I. Does anyone have better methods that have been tried with success it the P.I?

Thanks for any thoughts or insights,
    Warren
