Guavatel-Formally IT Quest-Is anybody using their service?

Is anybody using Guavatel-Formally IT Quest? Their promise of supplying as much bandwith as I need sounds really good. I am in Dauin relying on Smarts antenna which performs really badly. I'm wondering if Guavatel actually live up to there promises. I appreciate any comments from anyone who currently uses them.

 

well, they change names faster than other people panties. not sure if that is in general a good sign.

 

Yet another new name ehh? They can change their name all they want, but if they improved their service they would not have to go to the trouble every year or so. They have been the topic of several threads here in the past. I was going
to direct you to do a search for "IT outlook, Quest, or IT quest, but it seems the search function doesn't turn up
anything.

I live in san miguel in the shadow of the Orica plant. I had IT QUEST installed about 4 months ago and bought the #3 package from their offered services. Except for an occasional weather associated downtime... IT WORKS GREAT!!! 3 of my neighbors have smart antennas and are down/slow/mad all the time.
On the odd occasion I had to txt them for support/repair they answered in a reasonable time and came when they said they would.
Their antennas point towards Dauin and are not obstructed as the Smart ones are in my area. I am glad I chose them regardless of their name changes and challenges in the past.

 

Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences. My deduction is the past service has been horrific but they may finally have their act together. I would love to hear more from people using them this year to verify if that is true. I think they may be the most expensive internet provider in the world so it benefits all of us to know all about them before we spend 10,000P a month for just 1.5Mbs! Thanks Again

 

I pay p3999 for the Sky Cable Silver package, 6 Mbs and includes Sky TV with 70 odd stations including all the sports. No ugly antennae needed. I'd have to pay more than that just for the TV in UK, with the internet extra. A speed test done over the weekend at a busy time showed 5.4Mbs.

Only real problem I've had was when I lost internet for a few hours because of a split in the cable coming in from Silliman Village. I went to the Sky office, saw the engineer, he followed me home and replaced the cable. Can't fault them up to now. Tomorrow may be different, but up to now they are pretty good. My adjoining neighbours either side are also on the same package and don't report any problems.

Talk about beating a dead horse...

The Dane had valid reasons for his complaints 5 years ago. In a nutshell,He was an innocent victim of the "crab mentality" prevalent here in the Philippines. Bayantel and Globe, two of the backbone providers in that era did not see IT Outlook as a value added reseller, but as competition - even though they could not or would not serve the customers, they were jealous of someone making money from their service. Rather than continue making money off of the reseller, they chose to terminate his service in true crab fashion.

Rhoody and Larry are just regurgitating old threads and fanning flames. Were either of you actually customers or are you just trying to gang-bang a guy that the Dane has a hard-on for?

I used their service when I lived in Talay because I did not have a choice at the time. When I moved to Batinguel, I had a choice, but kept my service because in my experience, the management at the time provided great customer service. The PLDT I-Gate connection was great, and the Globe connection was so-so. If my I-gate went down, I could reset my router and switch connections on the fly. I liked that. Two years ago, it was a great service and worth every peso.

As far as name changes go, when you start a business here as a sole proprietor, you fall under DTI guidelines for naming your company. When you choose to incorporate, you fall under SEC guidelines. The name they were using as a sole proprietor could not be used as a corporation for various reasons. You should really get your facts straight when making silly accusations as to why the name of the company changed. It is not always done for dubious reasons.

Since the incorporation, this saga has taken more turns than the road to Santa Catalina. About a year ago, "professional management" took over and drove a lot of customers away, myself included. This latest incarnation is all part of the drama in an effort to dilute the ownership of a stockholder. One day, after the dust settles, maybe the story will come out. When it does, it will be educational to any foreigner that wishes to start a business here.

As far as this Guavatel thing goes, on their Facebook page, they list "Wireless nanotechnology", whatever that is. The technology is anything but cutting edge. Same old equipment. If you want to find out who is behind Guavatel, check with the SEC.
