    Hi,

I am returning (lived almost 4 years in the Olongapo and Angeles areas) to the Philippines in October and looking at living in Dumaguette. I would like to chat and ask some questions if anyone that lives there has the time to answer, please PM me.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Hi Dan, good luck on your move, hope it goes well. Because this is your first post, you are a junior member and we can't send you a PM. If you want to keep it private I suggest you post your e-mail for now, then members can answer if they choose.

    Moving to Dumaguette?

    Ron,

I wasn't interested in keeping anything private. I just thought that I would ask one person some general questions about the city and area instead of posting them.

Regardless, here are the questions, and if someone wants to answer here or to me, my email is texsinbad@yahoo.com:

I am looking for a nice (nice meaning the beach/water is clean) beach within 15-30 minutes of a "medium" size city with a mall and/or plenty of places to shop/eat with good cable TV and internet connection.

I have never visited your area and hoping that you could answer the following questions:

    1. I am not married; so, I am looking for a furnished 1BR rental on or near the beach. Hopefully with air conditioning with cable TV and internet available. Do you have any idea of what a nice rental might rent for?

    2. How is the cable TV and internet service there? How much monthly for each?

    3. I don’t cook, and unless I meet a woman that does, I will eat out a lot. Do you have any fast food type places there? Any places that serve American type food?

    4. What things do you like/love best there?

    5. What things do you dislike/hate there?

    6. Any malls or other places to shop and eat there?

    7. In general, are the locals and police friendly to foreigners? In Angeles, the police seem to target foreigners.

    8. Any other areas in the PI that you are familiar with that you think that I might like?

    9. Since cars are pretty expensive, I have owned, and will buy a motorcycle. Is that a good area and places to ride?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Hi Dan, Jack P. just saying hello, hope you have a Good stay with us, if you have a look at the Thread running again, just at the moment titled "Dumaguete, the best Place to live?" I think you will get some answers there. I have tried to connect (multi Quote) the two threads but have had a little problem with this. However, have a read and you can see what we think about Dgte. take it for what it is, good and bad but it is a pretty good outline of our Fair City, "The City of gentle Folk":D

Trust you will find the Thread good.

    Jack P.

    Hi Dan

welcome to the board. all I can say is that your questions are multiple times answered here. What is good for one is bad for the other. so it might be a good start to use the search engine and read a lot between the line. Welcome again and cheers

    Rhoody

Searching answered some, but not all of my questions. Plus, I was hoping to actually communicate with someone to get a better feel for the area.

    Hopefully, someone has the time.

    Thanks again

    A Forum!

Tex, It is not so much a matter of time, it is the platform, this is a forum, what I think you need, is a chat room.
Ask a question and we can, I am sure, try and answer it. Chat Rooms are not, for a lot of us here.
If you have Yahoo Messenger, Facebook or any other Chat media, post it and see what happens.

    Jack,

I understand what you said, but I have posted my email IF someone does have the time to communicate on living in Dumaguette.

I have also posted my questions, but no one has answered either on the forum or privately to me. So, it is either time or no interest.

    I do appreciate you answering.

    Dan
